Can someone tell me how they govern when a touchdown has been achieved by breaking the plane of the goal line?
Is it purely up to the ref and the line judges discretion? If they are unsure, can they call for tv replay themselves rather than wait for either team to call for it?
Where is the plane exactly with reference to the thickness of the line - it is after all a game of inches!
Cheers in advance,

1. The goal line is the front of the line.
1.5 The plane is infinitely high and long (extending beyond the cones). As long as your feet are in the ball can be out of bounds so to speak.
2. No the ref has to make a call then if challenged it is reviewed. During the last two minutes of halves the replay official "up stairs" calls for reviews of any plays deemed worth looking at.
