Dwayne Jarrett Could fall out of the 1st Round

Quote:
WHERE'S DWAYNE?

Our initial 2007 mock draft already has attracted plenty of attention -- and has resulted in a flood of e-mails to PFT headquarters.

"Where is USC receiver Dwayne Jarrett?" is the question posed by hundreds (okay dozens . . . okay one dozen) members of PFT Planet.

Given that we have six receivers listed in our first crack at the first round, most have presumed that we merely overlooked Jarrett.

Though we've been guilty of such stoopidity in the past, this time around the omission was intentional. Why? Because the network of scouts and league insiders with whom we collaborated in preparing the first crack at the first round believe that Jarrett will run a 4.6 or slower in his Pro Day workout, which will cause him to fall out of the first round.

Obviously, if/when Jarrett runs faster than 4.6, we'll reassess our position. For now, though, we think that Dwayne Jarrett will be this year's version of former Trojan teammate LenDale White.

very interesting, I'm sure Lane would be very happy if he were able to take DJ in Round 2. I can really see this happening if we deal moss and DJ doesn't run a great 40 time.

imagine getting J-Russ/Quinn, Lynch and DJ that would really spice up the offense.

That would be great! Hope we can pull off something like that.

That would be sweet, he would already have an advantage because he knows the offense and is familiar with Kiffin. I doubt he falls that far but I do think one of the WR's (Jarrett, Bowe, Rice, Meecham) will be there in the 2nd

I didn't believe it at first, but he isn't that fast and seeing Lendale drop last year is evidence enough. Just have to wait and see for the combine. As long as we don't take Rice I will be happy. IMO he came out too early and will bust

hes a playmaker and did it with Bush/Leinhart and without them. hes a strong MF with good hands that can go across the middle and can be a premium redzone threat. top 15, imo

Now how do you think we can pull that off? that means we would have 2 first almost in the top 15 and our second rounder.. I think if we move into the first round again we'd be giving up our second no?

that would be sick if Jarrett fell to us in the 2nd round.
Jarrett is similiar to Boldin IMO.
Both are big, physical WR who don't have a blazing 40 time but have been productive in college using their other physical attributes like size.

Jarrett = 6'5. 215 lbs. 4.6 - 4.7 expecte 40 time from what i've read
Last Yr of College: 70 REC/1015 YDS/12 TD/14.5 YPC
Boldin = 6'1. 223 lbs. 4.7 40 time.
Last Yr of College: 65 REC/1011 YDS/13 TD/ 15.6 YPC

Snatch him up Al if he's there in the 2nd, but not before Bowe if he's still there.

I hope you're right. That would be sweet.

One of those guy's teamed with Porter & Curry.

That would be great.

Lendale White dropped last year because he showed up to his workout out of shape looking like a fat slob. That combined with off the field issues dropped him from the first. I doubt a 4.6 40-time drops an otherwise potential top ten pick into the second. He is widely regarded as the second best WR in the draft, and bottom line is he is a great football player. Someone will take him in the first, i would be surprised if he dropped into the 20's. While speed is great, it is not everything for a WR and he seems to possess all the other assests. Not a comparison but Jerry Rice ran about a 4.6 40, it will not have that huge an effect on him.

Jarrett was talked about Bspn a couple of weeks ago, and the big knock against him was stated as inability to get separation. That would concern me.

These USC WRs usually don't do so hot in the NFL because their opponents in the PAC 10 are nothing compared to them. We'll see what happens.

thats exactly what i was thinking. rice made a career going over the middle and shorter routs.... whats to say with dj's size he cant do the same thing? look at colston too. he came in as a wr/te, now hes tearing it up as a wide out without great speed, but he has good size.
