Great Blue North Draft Report

http://www.gbnreport.com/

Quote:
# February 11 (12:01 AM): Raiders, top QB prospect talk… Oakland, which has the #1 pick at the 2007 draft, reportedly met with former LSU QB JaMarcus Russell, late last week. While there have been reports that Oakland owner Al Davis is not inclined to pay the price of signing a QB drafted first overall, the Raiders, who had the NFL’s worst offense this past season as they won just twice, are believed to have included Russell and Notre Dame QB Brady Quinn among targets for the top pick. The Raiders, though, are also thought to be interested in acquiring a veteran QB, either through a trade of free agency, to compete with returning pivots Andrew Walter and Aaron Brooks and then using the #1 pick on a position player like Georgia Tech WR Calvin Johnson or Wisconsin OT Joe Thomas.
Getting interesting....

Don't teams usually bring in players in the draft to do personal workouts? Wonder when we can start that...

Let the speculation begin. The Raiders almost never let it be known who they are going to draft. I am certain that in addition to bringing in Russell the Raiders will meet with Peterson, Quinn, Thomas, Johnson, Gaines Adams, Jamaal Anderson and any other top recruits that I missed. That way nobody can guess who the Raiders are really targeting in the draft. This can give us more trade options if that is the way Davis/Kiffin want to go.

EDIT-- In fact how many times over the past few years have we drafted a guy that said he hadn't even been contacted by the Raiders prior to being picked? A bunch to my recollection.

Hmmm, I'd take Calvin Johnson, but Joe Thomas? Sure, he's pretty badass and all, but PLEASE, no o-lineman with that first pick.. Get some help in FA damnit..

As a side note, last year I followed a handful of draft sites theirs being on of them.

Their mock draft was way off.

I would rather have anyone. Its makes me sick that there is talk of Brooks still being there. Not for nothing we need alot of help and I dont think starting with OL is the way to get back on track
