Tom Rathman

Im not sure if this has been posted, but KFFL is reporting that the Raiders are looking into interviewing Tom Rathman for an unspecified position on the team. IMO Rathman was the protypical FB. Big, strong, great blocker and an excellent reciever. If we do go to a somewhat westcoast offensive philosphy,
who better to have as a coach than one who had great success in the system with the 49ers. I still believe to this day that we need another big blocking FB in the mold of a Rathman or Ritchie maybe this scenario with Rathman means that the coaching staff is thinking along the same lines......

Rathman would be a nice addition to the staff. If appears Lane is having great success so far in getting the coaches he wants. Let's hope Rathman joins up. Maybe we'll get a quality FB who can actually block with the help of Rathman. I wonder what it's like to have a FB that can lead block????

I'd rather have a FB that plays like Rathman than Rathman as a coach. This doesn't excite me.

I understand your stance, but IMO why would they bring in a RBs coach
(one of the best FBs of the modern era) if not to tutor another potential
westcoast FB ala Rathman, William Floyd (before injury), Jon Ritchie?

Using this logic I'd rather see them hire somebody like Eric Dickerson cause a franchise RB is a hell of lot more important then any FB.

True enough... but ask LT what Neal means to him, ask Alexander what Strong means to him and so on and so on. Ask Montana what a FB could do as a pass blocker or even recieving option from a dump off. Having a good FB
is always beneficial to a premiere RB let alone a franchise QB.
