Lightbulb Jeff Garcia

Should we make a run for Jeff Garica? He reminds me a lot of Gannon. He can throw the ball accurately and would be perfect in a West Coast Offense. Now, you might say that a WCO won't work with Al. But remember, Al has now given control to Kiffin.

Also, in the past ten years, which offense has been more productive for the Raiders? The only time the Raiders made the Superbowl the past ten years was due to the implementation of a WCO run by Gannon.

I believe that it all comes down to what Kiffin wants. I'll be in 100% support of what Kiffin does.

I know a lot of people will quote his age. But I think if you look at the games he's played in, his wear and tear will be less than expected.

He's a good option, IMHO, if we go for a vet free agent. I wanted to pick him up when he left the 49ers.

And this would give Andrew a couple/three years to warm up his engines; or for us to decide we need to look elsewhere for a QB.

BUT... I'm also a fan of JRuss and have a hard time passing on him (no pun intended).

I question his ability to work in the system...but then again, I have no idea what system we are running,

Hmmm... career passer rating:

Damon Huard... 85.2
Matt Schaub... 69.2
Andrew Walter... 55.8
Jeff Garcia (including the Lions and Browns years)... 86.4

No , I want stability at QB for years to come , not a rotation of QB's on a yearly basis. If we sign him this year , we will be asking this same question about another QB next year.

He's better than anyone we have, it'd be a nice addition if he was aquired.

I agree, particularly IF we're still thinking Walter is The Guy of The Future. We only need a couple years out of a stop gap mentor type. Maybe we get a Superbowl or two out of the deal as well.

Now, if we're not sold on Walter, then we should be picking JaMarcus or Brady at #1. Even then, you could argue having a solid vet to mentor the young stud while he's learning the system (and we're learning the system) is a good thing. Not to mention having a (more?) solid backup.

The only question mark to me is the cost. If we're not picking him up to start for the next couple years at least and lead us to the Superbowl while we're waiting for "something better", then the cost may be too high.

Don't tease.

If this were to happen, I'd assume Moss and possibly Porter would be gone (I'd vote both). If we got enough for both, perhaps we could even move up high enough to get Lynch.

Garcia @ QB, Walter and Tui battling for 2 and 3
CJ, Curry, Gabs, Francis, Morant, Buchanon @ WR
Lynch + Jordon + Fargas (?) for a 1-2 / 1-2-3 punch
Vets via FA + 3rd/4th round on O-line
A blocking TE
A bad @ss FB

Saweeeet. Better up my bet on those 125-1 odds!!!

I actually brought this up about two months ago, and got killed for it. I wouldn't be surprised if we take a look at him.

I would take Jeff Garcia as a mentor for Walter, or if we draft another QB.

No no, enough band-aids, we NEED a franchise QB, not a rotation every yera or 2.
