Kiffin, bright, but a jerk?
I was listening to KNBR today and Michael Irvin (the SI writer) was guest hosting in the noon to three slot.

He was commenting that the general perception around the league is that Lane Kiffin is the brightest young mind in football.

But also that he is a "jerk". He went on to say that being an a-hole isnt necessarily a bad thing and it will probably serve

him well as a young coach in todays NFL, especially working under Mr. Davis. Nice guys finish last.

I found some wisdom in that. I'm sure Gruden wasn't a peach to be around when he first set forth to weed out

the bad apples of the 4-12 team he inherited.

rather have a guy that is gonna stick up for him self and speak his mind then be a yes sir type guy.. because those guys dont last long

I would like that statement more if it didn't come from Irvin, whom I just plain don't listen to anymore.
