LJ trade??

OK so this is very thin IMO but it somewhat makes sense. I have a friend in Tampa that sent me an e-mail saying he heard on a sports talk show that the Dolphins are interested in trading for Lamont Jordan. They said Ronnie Brown excels when he has someone to share the load (see Cadillac Williams) and hasn't proved to be an every down back yet. They said Lamont was at his best coming in to give a break to Martin and would serve the same role in Miami because it's obvious he isn't #1 RB material. He also made it sound like the fans and organization are waaaay done trying to turn him into our #1 back and he's good as done in Oak.

My take: probably BS but it's true what they say about both backs. I don't think Jordan is on the outs with the fans or front office here, but I think we all agree that he's not the solution in our backfield. So take it as you will. Anyone in the Fla. or Tampa area heard any of this??

If this turned out to be more than just a 3rd person story and had some merit to it would anyone be interested?? What do they have besides picks that we could use....and don't say Taylor cuz that sh!t ain't happening.

Well Jordan could have rubbed some people wrong coming in to camp outta shape and poppin off his mouth from time to time, however I dont think he is done here in Oakland unless we end up tradeing him on draft day and taking a RB with a high pick. But unless something changes I expect he will be here next season.

I'm not sure this is correct. If that $4.75 million roster bonus he's due next March isn't guaranteed then cuting or trading him would shave $5.75 million but accelerate $2.8 million for a cap savings of $2.95 million.

However, I can't imagine any team wanting to inherit a contract that calls for paying Jordan $5.75 million this year.

I doubt any team would offer much more than a mid round pick for hm right now he ain't worth too much.

that is an intriguing idea. I dont know what LJ is worth. I would hope for more than a 4th. I mean we got a 1st for Jolley and a 2nd for P Buch. Maybe Al can work some magic here too and get us something worth while. I had high hopes for LJ when we got him, but after watching his play this season, i wouldnt be too sad if we let him go.

I'd love to see this. Jordan is not the answer at RB.
I don't see it happening as his contract is way too much for any other team to absorb to be a "split" back.

If it did happen, wouldn't happen until draft day IMO becuase if we did it before the draft it would tip our hand.

If we can get another RB this offseason, (Michael Bush in the 2nd round of the draft?) I would love to get rid of LJ. I agree with all the comments above that he is not the answer in Oakland. But he's also not the answer in Miami. Ricky Williams will be back to spell Brown.

IMO we need Lamont still. If we draft a guy like adrian peterson, sharing loads early on will make him better, like bush and deuce.

I don't remember in the $5mil we are charged this year is a roster bonus, or just the prorated portion of the

signing bonus that counts against our cap, but I do recall that it's guaranteed.

But let me get this straight. Miami wants to trade for Jordan because Brown isn't cutting it?

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that's a rumor.
