Tom Coughlin??

Just heard Chris Mortenson on ESPN Countdown report that AL is questioning NFL insiders about the status of Coughlin's job....maybe will pursue if Giants let him go.

interesting......

Can Coughlin be gone in NY....YES!

Acorsin is retiring/moving on, Coughlin's stature with the Mara family isnt realyl high, and if they decide that this team was out of control and a change is needed due to their lackluster finish, then he'll be gone. He [Coughlin] doesnt have a lot of leverage once Acorsi moves on. Also, the players consistently have thrown him under the bus. Tiki after last year's playoff loss, all this year among other players have outwardly critiqued Coughlin.

The one thing i'll say, Coughlin's team late when they hit a losing streak WASNT playing BAD. They had many chances to win a lot of those games they lost, they were in those games and they played well in some, but they had a bad stretch of awful breaks in games.

They backed into the playoffs -- after being in control of that division.

There is no doubt, that if they could get Weis, Coughlin would be gone. That would be their #1 choice.

But, that isnt the case, and with the lack of "premier" names out there, Coughlin may be able to keep his job one more year.

It will be interesting, 'cause the outcome of the playoff game, and how hey perform with having a new lease in life in theplayoffs after a bad finish will determine or could determine how the organization feels about him...

The only coach in the league that has locker room issues close to as bad as ours? How many times did Giant players come out and say "we got outcoached" in the media this season? Come on!

We need tofind a young, promising coachthat can lead the team for the next 10 years, imo. I am sick of the instability. The last few coaches have been temporary band-aids. We need the cure. Someone that can lead us through the next few seasons rebuilding and keep us compettitive along the way. Someone players trust.

GREAT POST...

I POSTED THAT HERE A FEW MINUTES AGO:
http://www.raiderfans.net/forum/show...5&postcount=17

COughlin is beyond a tyrant...a taskmaster would be in shame of his lack of toughness compared to Coughlin.

The guy runs one of the strictest camps in the NFL. No jerseys outside the uniforms, details such as socks and how they are being worn are observed, practice effort for players is demanded high, sharpness and punctuality IS HUGE, among many other stuff, some very eccentric, but used to build discipline.

The one thing I dont like about Couhglin's teams here in NY -- Guys like Tiki, Shockey have outwardly critiqued the guy wayyyy too much. Which is a problem with the G-Men, as they tend to pass the buck too much. When the Giants lose, ITS NEVER Tiki's fault, as he is quick to throw Coughlin under the buss to the media among other things. Not cool, especially for a guy [Tiki] who was a fumble machine and not the dynamic RB that he is now until Coughlin arrived and helped him become that elite RB.

But again, he has a tough mix of guys in that locker, J.Shockey, Arrington, Plaxico et.

COUGHLIN HAS BEEN CRITIQUED TOO MUCH, and he has lost his edge a tad here inNY!

Our team has gone mutiny more often than Fletcher Christian, RINY. Thats what worries me. The Giants have been right on the edge of it all season. If he gets fired, a large part of it will be related to player relationships, or a lack thereof. Our guys are already used to a mutiny. Wouldn't take much to have another.

We need a coach that makes the players feel like HE WOULD THROW HIMSELF UNDER THE BUS FOR THEM. Not a taskmaster or another aloof type.

Conservative coaches look at Coughlin, imo, and say "Damn! That dude is conservative!"

I know I am raving, but Coughlin is the polar opposite of the type of coach I would be looking for.

However, it is what it is. Whoever Al brings in, they will get a fair shot from me. It would sure be nice to not have to manufacture optimism for a change.

I'm not saying Coughlin would be a horrible coach for us, but that we need to go in the other direction. We need a young, bright and innovative offensive mind. Art was supposed to instill toughness and discipline into our team and that didn't work. Bring in this Sarkisian dude for an interview and if Al likes him give him a shot. Who just won coach of the year???? Yeah that's right, Sean Payton, the same guy we shoulda had.

Coughlin has had success every where he's been, but it's marginal and his players have always ended up becoming disgruntled and tired of him.

Coughlin would never take the job #1...

#2 , the players would revolt as they've never revolted before playing for that drill sergeant!!!

Sad but true!

Of course if it came down to Shoop or Coughlin i'd take Coughlin in a nano second!!!
