Don't draft any O-line in '07

Everyone keeps talking about drafting o-lineman. Dont we have enough young guys on the team (Gallery, Boothe, McQuistan, and Grove) We need to sign a couple veteran guys so eventually these guys can learn from them. We need possibly a QB (but I would like Matt Schaub) a RB, WR, DT, DE, OLB, and FS. And people talk about the o-line you've got to be kidding.

I agree with you 100% ....but let me add to that Langston Walker, Matt Stinchomb, Mo Collins, Tim Kohn and many others in the later rounds. It is well known that your OL needs to be solid and that really means continutity. Drafting OL high in the draft is fatal flaw unless they are clones of OGDEN, PACE or BOSELLI !!

You always draft linemen due to bad play, injuries, turnover etc - just not high picks unless you have other positions covered or your need is great.

Look at Boothe.

that's why we have coaches to teach our young O-line the fundamentals

I see at lot of defence in that. We should really go out and get two very good receivers,Ilike the two guy's from USC, I know one of them are going to the draft.I feel we could maybe get some d line guy's late in the draft but we need to tend to this joke of an offense. :batman:

Its very doubtful that we'll be able to sign any offensive lineman that can help us next year. The free agent class SUCKS. Right now there is maybe 4 or 5 guys that would be an upgrade if we sign them and the odds of us just signing just one of them ain't good. Too many teams with too much cap space will also be bidding on these guys.

I agree the o-line can be fixed via free-agency and gelling and stuff like that. We need to draft some help on offense at TE, WR, RB, FB and (God forbid) QB.

If we do get OL, whether it is through the draft or FA, where do we get help (ie LT, C)? What you reckon?

I agree; no more stupid DB's or o-linemen.

I agree. We don’t have Steve Wisnewski and Lincoln Kennedy any more. We need to find a couple of veterans that can bring back the nastiness and passion like our linemen in the past. We have IMO the best O-line coaches and mentors in the league. Jackie Slater and Art Shell are Hall of Famers. But they can’t be on the field, so we need a legitimate leader on this line, someone who can light a fire up their butts and get these boys moving. I see hope with our O-line but its going to take leadership and accountability to make this unit the best. OG Eric Steinbach (Cincinnati) and OG Kris Dielman (San Diego) are some key free agents we need to be looking at. I honestly think we dropped the ball on not pursing Larry Allen who signed with the Niners and look how much that helped Frank Gore. 4 YARDS is all im asking everytime we run.

I like our Guards with Boothe and Hulsey. I would like to see Hulsey take over at center. Grove is a bust. We need to get Slaughter over to RT and bring in another guard to take the interior when Hulsey takes Groves spot. We might be inclined to bring in a vet LT to push Gallery. I think Gallery has had a tough go. He's really starting to look like a bust, but I hope he can get it going. He's cool as hell...
