Fassel as Offensive Consultant?...

Just added to ProFootballTalk.com a few minutes ago, I say why not?...

RAIDERS BRINGING IN FASSEL?

There's talk emanating from Raiderland regarding the possibility that former Ravens offensive coordinator Jim Fassel will be brought in as a consultant for the team's anemic offense.

The move, as we understand it, would not result in Fassel replacing current offensive coordinator Tom Walsh being fired.

It might be Fassel's only opportunity to get back into football for 2007. Frankly, he might be better off getting paid by the Ravens to stay home. The chances of being associated with this year's unofficial NFL train wreck might do far more harm than good as to his future career options.

Jhornets06 is on a distinguished road
I'm confused....I thought he quit because he didnt like two people running an offense. I thought he clearly stated that he wants to run the show.......and how much of an opinion do you get when your a consultant? Maybe there just bringing him in here to get a feel for things then fire walsh at the end of the season.

In the name of all that is holly and merciful, please bring him in in some capacity. If anything, it at least shows we're concerned with the state of affairs on the offensive side of the ball.

I like Jim. I like Tom equally.

If Fassel was here from the get-go, does that mean that the QB and center wouldn't have muffed those 3 exchanges in the Chargers game like they did?

My point being, there's too much blame put on Walsh when he's not commiting the holds, the offsides, wiffing the tackles, fumbling the snaps, dropping the passes, running like a wet noodle and trying like a dead **** - as in Rooster.

I like Jim though so, I think it's a positive if he's hanging around our locker-room.

Can't hurt, because Walsh isn't getting any offensive pointers from Shell.

not sure whether it would be a good thing or not. ITs not like his offense in Baltimore was lighting it up.

But then again, another mind in the stew couldn't hurt...

Makes sense since Al supposedly wanted him as HC. Al is able to stay loyal and not fire his boy walsh in the middle of the season saving face. Fassel would most likely run the show but would not hold the title so as to speak.
