Raiders to Hire Jeff Fisher?

Okay.. I looked for this and couldn't find it anywhere.

A buddy of mine in Los Angeles called me and told me today that XTRA Sports in LA reported that their sources have said that an offer was made to Fisher to come to the Raiders as the head coach as soon as next week. Further more, that the Raiders have already worked a deal with the Titans that would release Fisher if he accepts the Raiders offer.

Now I am gonna be honest, being a native from LA I am very familiar with XTRA sports and Hacksaw Hamilton and if he indeed was the source chances are it is bulls*%t. He isn't very credible.

However, it does raise some intreague considering some of the recent articles I have read saying that Shell is in Al's plan to take over some GM duties. And I do know Al has been a Fisher fan for some time.

This is so far fetched that I can't see any way that there's even a sliver of truth to it. That being said, I'd be f*cking ecstatic.

i'm not going to say i am against the idea, however changing head coaches at this point would only make things worse (if possible) and more confusing than they already are. it's not very realistic to try to bring in a completely new head coach mid season and have any success. most times new head coaches during the season is a result of promoting within the ranks. So yes i am going to file this under BS. but it was nice to think about for a split second.

Even though that would be a great change, I don't see how in the fukk you can switch head coaches in the middle of the season. I don't think it's ever been done, but Fisher is a great coach stuck with a pretty crappy team, I'd love to have him coaching us, providing he brings in a quality staff.

Coaches have been fired mid-season. In this case Shell would ascend to a higher place in the org. the place he is really wanting anyway if some sources are correct. I'd be shocked but happy shocked.

Actually Shell got his first head coaching job mid season. Maybe its Karma that he'd lose it that way too...

How do you think Art Shell got his first head coaching job with the L.A. Raiders?

Very plausible IMO. Both teams are in the tank. Both teams are going nowhere this season, so a move like that is very possible.

We would have Jeff Fisher in his best years. He would go for no BULL, he has learned ALOT and is still relatively young, AND he will not be back with the Titans next year.

So yeah, it can definitely work.

The only time Al Davis stops fighting is when he is DEAD.

I'm on the record (I don't feel like searching that far back) for postingthat Fisher would be the best candidate to take over for Art if and when he is relieved of his duties , or steps down for health reasons...

That said I never dreamt it would be midseason!

And if it was Hacksaw doing the reporting on XTRA570 , it's most likely not gonna happen!!!

Would you trust this face???

I agree. I don't think there would be a more ideal candidate to restore this franchise. I also believe the he's on his way out of Tenn becuase of his poor relationship with Floyd Reese, but more than likely that won't happen until the end of this season. Even then he'll have his pick of any job that opens up imo.

Personally, i hold a small hope that this is true... but I most certainly wouldn't out much stock in it.
