The Raiders would be doing the right thing by Randy Moss and the right thing for their organization by making this deal. The best case for the Raiders, with Moss, is that Randy has a great last 11 games and then refuses to restructure his deal at the end of the year. The Raiders only have Moss for 11 more games, so getting a pick or two to build for the future is a no brainer. From Randy's side, it's obvious that he would much rather be in New England than Oakland.
As for Doug's comments, I would hope they would end some of the foolish crap I've been reading here, but I know better than that. Randy's teammates have always spoke highly of him. Both Mike Tice and Dennis Green are both rumored to have had an interest in having their new teams try to acquire him. Randy was voted a captain this year by his teammates and Doug says he works harder than ANYONE.
I personally believe Randy takes some plays off, which is fair game to rip him on. It's also fair game to rip him for saying he's not really worrying about football right now, but in the same breath remember he played his best games AFTER that comment, not before.
To suggest Randy Moss shortarms the ball is ridiculous. The guy was seriously injured last year trying to catch a badly underthrown ball by Kerry Collins where he was smashed by 3 Chargers. If you want to see shortarming, check out TO this year, a guy who's made his living on over the middle passes is a much bigger (thicker) player than Randy Moss. Heck, Courtney Anderson's arms are the one's that have been a little short at times this year on the Raiders squad and he's 270lbs.
