I thought that wouldn't be an option with Petrino signing his new contract but looking at the terms this may be true. It was said Al offered $2.5 mil a year which is the same he would average per year if he stayed at Louisville for the duration of the contract. Any decent OC coming in would want to have at least a 3 year deal. Maybe we brought Walsh in with the understanding he would only be there one year. It is not the 1st time there have been secret meetings with Al & Petrino...

Petrino won't be leaving for a while. But I think we still have a shot of getting him as HC in 3 or 4 years, unless another team beats us to it.

Check this out...
The following article talks about how Petrino was secretly meeting with other colleges and the Raiders. It also says that he turned down a 4 year $20mil deal with the Raiders for his family. Yet he still insisted on having a buyout in the contract. If reports before were true that he wanted to stay for his son's SR year, why would he stay after that when he can make more than twice as much for the Raiders? The contract can be worked with a guarantee and even if he was here only a couple years he could always get another college job and would have more money. Plus with Shell as G.M.; Al would be showing that he is backing off and Petrino would have more freedom... http://www.raidersonline.org/blog/ar..._archives.html Quote:

Hey I said I would be happy with that and feel like he can get the job done. These are just speculations that have been coming up on the east coast and I wanted to know what the nation thought of it |

He is a good coach, but many good college coaches have never made a successful transition to the pro level. Also, Al has never really dipped into the college coaching ranks all that much, and especially for his head coaches. Just an opinion |
