for the conspiracy thearists

It has been a topic of conversation in the Charlotte sports radio that Art was hired as a stop gap until next year. This year he is coaching but more important than that he is evaluating the players for his move upstairs next year as a GM. At that time Petrino will come in as head coach as his son will have graduated.

Now I am good with this cenario as I am with Shell continuing to Coach. I think he can be a good coach again. Remember The skins fans were saying the same thing about Gibbs last year that they are saying about Art now.

But the question comes into effect as to what does the nation think about this. Remember Al likes things done his way. And the way this is happening with the reports of Art moving upstairs when he hangs it up from coaching is the same track that Al took. Coach, gm, owner.

Would the Nation accept this and look at it as a positive. And what are the odds of if it did happen Petrino bringing Michael Bush with him. He is hirt and that has hurt his draft status since it is his senior year.

This is all just speculation. I just wanted to know what the nation thinks

I thought that wouldn't be an option with Petrino signing his new contract but looking at the terms this may be true. It was said Al offered $2.5 mil a year which is the same he would average per year if he stayed at Louisville for the duration of the contract. Any decent OC coming in would want to have at least a 3 year deal. Maybe we brought Walsh in with the understanding he would only be there one year. It is not the 1st time there have been secret meetings with Al & Petrino...

Al Davis made a run at Petrino this past off-season. Petrino might have earned $2.5 million a season, but he panicked when the news leaked out that he had secretly flown into Oakland to meet with Davis.

Petrino won't be leaving for a while. But I think we still have a shot of getting him as HC in 3 or 4 years, unless another team beats us to it.

Check this out...

The following article talks about how Petrino was secretly meeting with other colleges and the Raiders. It also says that he turned down a 4 year $20mil deal with the Raiders for his family. Yet he still insisted on having a buyout in the contract. If reports before were true that he wanted to stay for his son's SR year, why would he stay after that when he can make more than twice as much for the Raiders? The contract can be worked with a guarantee and even if he was here only a couple years he could always get another college job and would have more money. Plus with Shell as G.M.; Al would be showing that he is backing off and Petrino would have more freedom...

Petrino's insistence on putting a $1 million buyout in the contract stayed with Jurich, who has never included buyouts in contracts.

Hey I said I would be happy with that and feel like he can get the job done.

These are just speculations that have been coming up on the east coast and I wanted to know what the nation thought of it

Its been alluded to, but if that was the case why are the Raiders running the verticl offense and not Petrino's? would only make sense then your lpayers don't have to learn a new scheme, system, terminology etc...

This is a pipedream if anything.

cool, that's what I thought

He is a good coach, but many good college coaches have never made a successful transition to the pro level. Also, Al has never really dipped into the college coaching ranks all that much, and especially for his head coaches.

Just an opinion
