I'll just add to what others said. Al wanted WR Anthony Han**** (eventually taken the pick before us by K.C). After he was gone Al let us draft Marcus. Tom Flores coached Marcus in the Senior Bowl. Flores and the scouts wanted Marcus. In the game Flores didn't let Marcus carry the ball much but did (call a play) throw him a long pass he scored on.....
Al had a trade arranged that would have sent Marcus to Cleveland for a 2nd round pick but he had hurt his ankle and the trade never went through......

The fumble that infuriated Lord Al so much was against the E-Girls in ot near the goal line. All Marcus needed to do was hold the ball. The worst thing that could have happened we kick a field goal and win. Reason I remember it. I was at a concert and a bunch of inbred E-Girl fans had the game on the radio. We were 8-4 going into the game. We had come back from a 0-3 start that year. Wes Hopkins picked up the fumble and ran the length of the field. Think Cunningham then ran it in from a couple yards away. We lost the rest of our games to finish 8-8.......

I worked at a gated communtiy in Southern California and I met Marcus Allen (Very Classy Guy) several times, he would go and play golf there. He was very hesitant when I asked him about the rift between him and Davis, he just mentioned that some people were jealous about the great reputation he was getting and that the Raiders were getting to be Marcus Allen and the Raiders not Al Davis and the Raiders and of course Mr. Davis doesn't like that. No One really knows for sure cause their hasn't been many people that have come out and publicly talked about it so it's just a he said this he said that thing, By the end of the day marcus allen is the best running back ever in Raiders History

Marcus hurt his cause by holding out the year after signing a new contract. Every time Eric Dickerson or Walter Payton got a bigger contract, Marcus wanted comparable funds. This was at the time the NFL was transitioning from salaries of 100k to several million. Al believes you play for what the contract says.
Marcus learned from OJ how to have a good public personna. |

You know, come to think of it, Al Davis and O.J. might actually be neck in neck in a nationwide popularity poll. |
