Maybe sign him on to the PS or wait until next offseason to bring him to camp to evaluate him. But as of right now I feel that we are pretty much set at QB. There will be an opening next year though because Im certain we will not resign Tui. And its not that hard to see Al bringing in an under acheiver with lots of potential. He should have never gone to the Yanks straight out of college.

I'm a Cowboy fan AM1, Henson's gone, goodbye. Parcells said in his press conference yesterday that he won't be on the roster this year, and there's speculaton that he asked for a trade or to be relased.
At this point it's likely he's released. 559Raider, he's not eligible for the practice squad. He served as the backup a good hunk of 2004, so he was active for too many games. |

I wouldn't mind trading Tui and making Henson or another young QB our 3rd string guy. It isn't that I like Henson, its just that Tui is a free agent after this season and obviously won't be back, so we might as well trade him for some value now and get a younger guy who could have a future with us.

^ Good point. Besides its almost painful to see Tui remain on the Raider depth chart "treadmill."
He deserves a fresh start and its not going to happen here.

In 2004, he and Romo were pretty equal, actually. They see-sawed back and forth as the backup in camp and both saw time as the backup that year. His only real action, he showed something in garbage time during a buttkicking by the Ravens so the clamoring began for him to get a shot. He looked like crap against the Bears and that's the last anyone saw of him in a game.
Last year they tinkered with his throwing motion and he just didn't look right or comfortable. Then he hurt his throwing hand in camp on top of it. I don't know that he was ever active for a game last year. This year, he had a so-so year in NFLE. At times he looked like you would expect, other times not so hot. I saw most of the games or highlights, and he looked like an above average NFLE quarterback, but not much more. One thing I didn't like was he would go around doing some Favreish crap like throwing the ball underhand towards a receiver if he was being pressured or about to be taken down. Sometimes it worked, but it bugged me no end. He hasn't been very consistent in camp, and he's still got some of the same issues he's had since he started there. Most of the time he releases the ball kind of low. He takes too long to make decisions in the pocket sometimes, and has a tendency to lock on his receivers. I don't think it's a lack of ability or potential, it's a lack of progress. With Romo's emergence, and Dallas trying to sign him to a 3 year deal, the writing's on the wall. There are other factors as well, such as probably needing to carry an extra kicker so Vanderjagass doesn't have to kick off. We've got some good young linebackers we won't want to let go of, as well as a couple of receivers who might not be ready for primetime, but probably wouldn't last on the PS either. I think he's still got potential and he's not very old, so he'll probably get a shot someplace. I do feel he's got the ability to be starter, but he needs to get himself a fresh start. He could be a quality backup at the very least. |
