More Fuel for Porter Trade Rumors

Sources close to the Raiders indicate that WR Jerry Porter isn't the happiest camper with the way new head coach Art Shell has pushed for more discipline. As an example to previous issues, sources cite the sometimes tenuous relationship Porter had with Jon Gruden, who, like Shell, was more heavy-handed than Bill Callahan or Norv Turner. The Raiders have dangled Porter as trade bait in the past, so it wouldn't come as a complete surprise for Oakland to shop him if things don't go well early on.

I don't see it happening. Jerry has towed the line before and I believe will again. Only time will tell, but I don't see it happening unless he has a total melt down...

This seems to be another boring offseason, media fabricated, rumor. Porter will sit before being traded. Don't get me wrong, I like trading star players to fill needs, but the economics dictate Porter sticking around.

If Porter doesnt get his attitude together I could see this happening. As of late I havent heard of him acting up. But dont think for a second Coach Shell or Al Davis will put up with it. For the right deal I could see Porter being sent off. My hope is that he gets his act together, compliments R.Moss, and is a Leader for all the other WR's to see.

The only choices here are Porter behaves Porter plays, or Porter misbehaves he rides the pine. Porter will not be traded due to his prohivitive cap numbers. I think the Raiders would put an cap damaging malcontent in the bench before shipping him another team, be used against us, and still have to "on paper" pay for him. Porter would sit on the bench where he can only hurt himself atleast till he becomes cap tradeable.

Exactly!! He either does what Art says and plays or he deosn't and gets benched.

I just cannot get my head around what/ why this would even be - what problem does he have? A disciplined coach who gets results - um, why is that a problem?
Here's what (I think) we know:
Jerry likes being a Raider (he has been one for several years now, and seems to be a happy guy. OK he said this or that - he is smiling, working hard (as usual - look at the dude for ****'s sake), and the guy many consider our most prominent leader, Randy Moss, has nothing but praise and in fact seems to be friends with the guy. So what do we know about Moss? He is world class and wants to win. Why would he hang with a guy who 1. wants off the team he is on and 2. doesn't want a result-getting coach?

Jerry is a great WR. OK he has dropped some - he has also caught some! He likes to play physical and can do so with great finesse. I don't see him having a problem with contact-based practices.
Jerry is on a better team now that the previous 3 seasons. He worked hard and produced with little or no problem during these years - why a problem now???

*I see Randy, Jerry, Aaron and Art having a great relationship and scoring a boat load of points. Does anyone see anything to get in the way of that?
As I said last week - anything else is totally insane, and Porter does not strike me as insane. Just young, ****y and talented, like 90% of the NFL.

I don't think Porter is going anywhere. He only had that argument in Shell's office but since then I haven't heard about no problems & that he skipped one camp with Moss but he's been to the rest of them. I don't think it's really a big issue some people think he's gonna go TO on us but he just has a little attitude that can get straightened out. I don't know but I don't think this is a big deal at all
