Kerry to Steelers?

No this rumor is not from the media. I would think that if the reports are correct that big Ben has injured his knees, the steelers may be in the market for a QB. Collins, who played at Penn State, and hails from Lebannon, PA. not too far from Pittsburgh, may end up being in their radar. Dont be too surprised if Collins becomes a Steeler as a stop gap until Big Ben is recovered.

he could even have mild success if they are still committed to the run, i think he is their best option right now...but i still hate him

Last rumor I saw about Collins involved the Titans.......it was lumped into an article about them possibly acquiring Ty Law as well.......didn't post it here because he's no longer a Raider and I really didn't think anyone would care where he went.

Later.

It would be an excellent move for Pittsburgh. If Collins has to start 4-6 games of the season only, he's a definite improvement over Charlie Batch. Batch is very injury prone and seems never to be healthy. Collins would be working behind one of the most solid Offensive Lines in the NFL, and he would be able to produce.

Everything that I've heard is that his legs aren't injured, and a broken jaw is only a 7 week healing thing. I think he'll be back for preseason and if not they have 3 other QBs on thier roster including Batch (who can fck up a game as well as Collins). Collins won't play for less than starter pay and the steelers won't do it. Collins will most likely retire unless he finally realizes that he's a backup at this point in his carreer.

Don't rule him out so quickly, he could very well earn a starting job wherever he lines up in Camp.

If I was the GM of the Steelers, I'd resign Tommy Maddox to a shorter term, cheaper deal than Collins. I'd be getting a guy who knows the whole system already and IMO is a better all around QB than Collins. They still have Batch who is a safe backup QB.

According to the radio his knees were not injured. He just has a f*cked up face. Couple missing teeth, a couple more of them chipped, broken upper and lower jaw and a big scar on the back of his head. Here's his pic after the accident.

Tommy Maddox sucks and will never be able to produce with that team. Kerry Collins will be able to in the short term for the time he's needed. He'll sign with them for a decent contract and is a lot better option than Batch, Maddox, or Jacobs.

I don't think they'll be needing Collins if Ben is actually ready for the begining of the regular season as mentioned in the following link..
