Update on Al Davis!
According to XM Radio Late Last Night:

Al Davis seems to be very sick as he has not attended current team meetings. It is said to believe that he will be there there come Training Camp. Al Davis is expected to leave the Nation in 2010 when the Raiders contract in Oakland is complete. His son Mark Davis is trying to learn the system as he is becoming more involved with the Raiders in recent months. Al is expected to talk with the city of Oakland and the NFL about a possible refurbish of McAfee Collisium, so that they can stay in Oakland. Al is belived to do this in the next 2-4 years so that Mark will be set up in Oakland with his team for a long period of time.

I am sorry to hear that he is sick and I wish him well. Al is getting up there in age so this is expected but its still a sad news.

My only beef with this story is, his son didn't care before so why now? Money, going to sell the team...... I would prefer Amy Trask. Maybe she will have some sort of control to keep the lad in check I dont know. But he(Mark) very well could have good intentions.

I think its not good news that Al Davis is sick, but I do think it is good that he is trying to keep the team in Oakland and renovate McAfee Coliseum.

I remember reading an article a while back discussing what would happen to the team and it basically said that. Don't have a link just foggy memory. I hope my memory or the article was wrong. Either way, its sad that Al's health is on the decline. It is good news however that he has a plan and schedule to hand over the reins. Which means his successor will be better prepared as opposed to if Al had passed while in control of the team.

Al too smart to just hand over his life's work to his kid (who I've never heard of or seen on t.v. in the sky boxes next to his dad) and let him do what he wants with it.

Amy Trask and Lombardi are there because Al obviously trusts them to do what is right for the Raiders... Mark will retain ownership but there's no doubt that there will be limits to what executive decisions he has the final say on

It will be a sad day in the Nation when Al relinquishes the reins....
