Possible trade

Before reading anything on these boards about a possible trade of Jerry Porter to the Packers, I had lunch today with a friend. I mentioned the possibility of this trade coming down tomorrow:

The Raiders trade WR Jerry Porter and their 7th pick in the first round to the Packers for their fifth pick in the first round and their second round pick.

My friend thought this would be a great trade for both teams.

This is Brett Favre's last year. What better way to give him a chance to win than to give him a big play WR to toss the ball to. Porter wants out of Oakland, according to several reports. The Packers, with Woodson recently signed and a new receiving threat, have significantly upgraded their team -- and they still have the 7th pick in the draft.

On the other hand, the Raiders move up in the draft and are able to draft AJ Hawk, considered by many to be the best "can't miss" prospect in the draft, and they immediately upgrade their defense with this selection. With two picks now in the second round, the Raiders can add two more quality players, or package one of the second rounders and their third round pick to move up into the bottom half of the first round.

Imagine a Raiders draft of LB AJ Hawk and DE Manny Lawson. 1A and 1B. What a draft!

Are you aware that the Texans are drafting Williams and that Al is in talks with the Saints about trading up for Bush?

Are you aware that talking doesn't mean doing? There is no garuntee that the Saints will trade. Moving up might garuntee Al his second choice of players in this draft.

That is the dumbest trade idea in the history of this board. Why is green bay going to drop two spots and throw in a second rounder. I think I may go blind from reading that. Are you aware that Javon Walker is a better player then Jerry Porter? If a trade between the Packers and Raiders were to hapeen for these players the Raiders would have to be the team that throws in the second round pick.

Again, someone who believes that Porter is worthy of a 1st round choice.
Get a grip Raiderfans.
Porter will be part of a deal, or no deal.

Maybe just trade Porter to the Packers for the #5 pick and Walker. The Packers should do that. I can't see why they wouldn't.
