Looks like we might have an awesome saftey. If he can make an impact like Shawn did for the redskins (MINUS THE SPITITNG and ASSUALT ) I think it will much improve our D.

Despite reports to the contrary, the Oakland Raiders are not considering trading up from the seventh spot in the first round for any of the three quarterbacks. Now that they have ex-New Orleans quarterback Aaron Brooks and with second-year quarterback Andrew Walter throwing a better ball than Brooks in the club's first mini-camp, there is no desperate need for a quarterback
I like the part about Huff, but I REALLY like what he said about Walter!!!

for me, Huff is still up in the air. He just wasn't the all over the field ball hawk that Reed, Taylor or Williams were when they came out. i know he has talent and potential, i've seen the guy play. but i'm just still kinda if'y about him, if ya know wut i mean.

if we took Vernon Davis, i'd be fine. if we took Justice, i'd be fine. Hawk or Sims, i'd be fine with either. but with Huff, i'm just kinda on edge because i just don't know wut he's going to bring.

IF WE DO BRING HIM IN, I BACK HIM 100%. I back anyone that dawns the Silver & Black, even Kerry while he was here.

but for me, I just don't want to go thru another top ten draft pick that will later be considered somewhat of a flop, kna mean?

Like it was said.. and I still believe it - The starting job is Walter's to lose. I could definately see Brooks starting because of his experience, but I don't agree with how everyone labels Brooks the starter automatically.

I agree with most of what you said everyone wants mario hawk but we are at 7th and its a very low chance they will drop to us so we have to move onto who will be available only that I swap Huff for Simms, I rather have huff over simms, but I welcome who ever we get even VY and I been labled a USC fan-VY hater even if I'm from Norther CA with no intrest in USC.

The Raiders need a pass rush and to stop the run; Huff doesn't help that

Your front 7 are the key; that's why the Pats and Steelers have won the superbowl. Pittsburgh let 2 of the their DB's go this last year.

The Pats and Steelers beat the Colts because Manning can't evade a rush and they rush him to no end. The QB can't beat you with the pass if his butt is on the ground.

Correct.

Everyone assumes Brooks will be the starter.

If that was the case, he would have been gauranteed the position when signed.

He was not.

It is Walters' job to lose.

I agree about Huff. I just dont see him being nearly as good as some are making him sound. I didnt get to see him play alot but the games I did see I was not overly impressed. I just dont see top 10 talent in him. I definitely thought Ed Reed was ALOT better coming out of College and he was picked 24th I think it was. Huff just doesnt excite me at all. I would MUCH rather have one of the top 3 Lb's (Hawk, Sims, Greenway) at 7 than Huff. Im not sold on Vernon Davis either but I like him better than Huff. And a Qb sounds a WHOLE lot better to me than Huff. But a LB is the top need IMO.

One thing to look at is Huff would be a serious upgrade to Gibson at safety. When all the draft talk started I was campaigning for Williams or Hawk. Since then Williams has moved up in the draft. It seems very unlikely that Williams will be available at #7. Hawk also would be a steal if he fell to our 7th pick. GB or SF will probably draft him. Lance Johnstone gives us a much needed boost at DE. Which makes me feel better since Williams will most likely be gone. Between LB and SS, we need a quality LB more. Just don't think Hawk will be there. DT is also a need position for us and Ngata, regardless of what some say, would be a beast gap clogger for us.

Getting back to Huff. I've watched some video of him and what I've seen is he always seems to be around the ball. We need a ball hawk at safety. Gibson sucks in coverage. Well, he just plain sucks. Ideally, I'd love to see the Raiders draft Hawk, then in the 2nd get Bing. I'd be very happy with Huff if Hawk is already taken.
