Serves these guys right. The Postons gouged teams for money and they all had sub par years or injuries. Hope they have to settle for league minimum and a signing bonus. Fukk the Postons.

A league source tells us that the three biggest remaining names in free agency -- linebacker LaVar Arrington, cornerback Charles Woodson, and cornerback Ty Law -- are all getting restless regarding their protracted stays on the shopping market shelf.

And each player is represented by Carl and Kevin Poston.

The thinking in league circles, as we've previously explained, is that the Postons aimed too high with their contract demands in the weeks prior to the launch of free agency, when teams compile their list of early targets by, in part, figuring out which players' expectations are reasonable.

Regardless of how each of these three players got to where they are, the reality is that none of them have signed -- and the really big money has long since dried up.

The most disappointed of the three has to be Arrington, who gave up $4.4 million in deferred bonus money in become a free agent in March. He otherwise would have hit the market in July, prior to the trigger date for a $6.5 million roster bonus. But because Arrington didn't sign in the early days of free agency, he's not going to get much more now than he would have gotten if he'd become available in July.

And he surely won't get an extra $4.4 million now.

So why in the hell didn't the Postons know before letting Arrington give up the money whether and to what extent he'd replace the money? Absent clear evidence that Arrington would have made a lot more not long after letting $4.4 million get away, the Postons never should have allowed him to make that swap -- especially at a time when Carl Poston already is in hot water with the NFLPA for not reading the final draft of Arrington's December 2003 contract extension.

The reality here is that each of these guys would have gotten a lot more money than they now will, if only they'd been ready to get the best offer on the table in the first few days of free agency, and to pounce on it. Instead, they'll now have to choose between taking less money than they wanted, or to sign a phony long-term deal that looks good in the newspaper but that is, in essence, a one-year contract.

Just go ahead and Thank the postons. It's not a matter of bad attitude or lack of talent from the players. Nobody in their right mind wants to deal with the postons anymore!!!!

Very true.....and that sucks for us big time. However, they all deserve what they get in these proceedings. (The Agents AND the Players)

Right now we haven't signed any free agents that count as a gain but we've lost one in Renaldo Hill. Hill's deal averages $2M a year so that would net us a 6th rounder next year. If we lose Woodson we would be in line for another comp pick. Depending on the average value of his deal it could range from a 3rd to a 7th. So bigger deal - better comp pick - provided we don't sign somebody that would cancel the pick out. In 2004 we lost Rod Coleman and would have gotten a 4th round comp pick last year but we then signed Warren Sapp and that cancelled out the loss of Coleman.
Chiefs, Broncs, got comp for players they traded under this formula. Denver got a pick for a player on their roster at the time when he returned from Tampa.

Woodson will likely get safety money, at the top of his position, and snag us a four, if he gets start corner money or plays to probowl level we get a 3. It's going to suck voting for him to a Pro Bowl if he plays that well. Nature of the game...

We'll see how it goes, I'd settle for Mr.Irrelevant every year. The last pick is always a chance to get someone everyone else thought could not play. Making the picks we have should be the priority first, but if you think we can add more and get the same level of ability, go for it! Al's philosophy is to get the best potential where you see it being, not where it is at the time.

Draft to your strengths. We did at corner last year, Nnamdi is set to take control as a physical corner, Washington has the speed, Routt has the motor also. Stu has yet to assert his sense of being in position and making plays but the pass rush will determine much of that.

Some way of adding an impact defender at each level of D, especially at cover linebacker and speed rush end, and one more safety to make big plays out of the defensive backfield and push the returning depth, this defense could take off.

They know a running game will help the time of possession and make a D's job easier, special teams should come together well, and the idea of these elements giving us more chances to play with a lead and use field position, we're talking right back where we belong. Dictate the outcome, stay aggressive, control game situations, all at the same time.

Certain coverage ability on the edge at LB is a must have item.

Williams or Riddle or Brayton may still be the edge rush we want, BoHam and Irons can be the run plug ends. Shell has kept those positions pretty much intact so far.

But coverage OLB and a difference making safety are must add elements.

The rest goes into OL, RB depth, TE depth. You usually add a player at every level to push things in camp, but we think of quality ahead of quantity. The way Al sets his mind to thing, we probably make some waves, surprise everyone, and probably have the usual storm on picks we wanted taken.

Remember Al works out West a lot, it appears his scouts do mostly regional work, it also saves botom line expense. He needs to stay aggressive there and remember that extensive, expensive scouting is a key to shaving down returns under revenue sharing.

It literally takes money to make money.

Al is a pay to play man when it comes to the product on the field, he used the Gruden trade to refuel his organization as well. It's time to emphasize aggressive Raiders cooperative efforts in the areas of scoutning and online advertising.

He should check these fan sites, run some ads here, and reward loyalty like he's always done.

I really think it's hilarious that these 3 have not signed yet and have missed out on the big money. The Poston's are 2 greedy idiots who obviously don't put the interests of their clients first. Arrington lost out on the 4.4 million because he listened to Carl. Why give up the roster bonus if you're not going to sign a contract the first couple of weeks in FA? Law, CWood, and Arrington are three complete idiots for sticking with the Postons even after they've lost out on the big money this year. Rosenhaus looks like a choir boy next to the Postons! Hope they all sign for chump change!!!

its not a kaweekadink that these studs who all have the same agent havnt signed yet. these agents make mistakes again and again. they have the whole league blackballin them. i for one am happy for woodson if he leaves hell get money just wont be the total amount they want. he might have to sign a one year deal. in fact unless the giants go crazy i think that all three of those players will end up in one year deals.

The Raiders could just sneak in and scoop all of them up for the biggest move of Free Agency! Or, not.
