either that or just give a little more competition for the qb spot. Lets face it guys even though I think Walter can do it Im not sure he can and if harrington can come cheap why not? We know that tui cant get it done for us and even though I like the idea of Brooks another backup/potential starter wont hurt.

OK guy, listen up.
This is a smart and good move. Willis has reported Tui may be axed. If that is the case, the Raiders need a #3 quarterback. If history means anything and with Al it does. He likes former #1 draft picks with high potential that did not pan out with their former team. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. Jim Plunkett, washed up and through, resurrected. John Matuczak was the #1 pick in the entire draft (Plunk too), resurrected. Kerry Collins did not work out. Joey Harrington was a former #1 pick who did not pan out on a bad team. If he came here, he would compete in a more relaxed atmosphere with no pressure. That could be just what he needed. There will be comparisons to the Brooks signing. However, Al loves former #1s. This is his kind of pick. Thing is, how much will it cost? Walter is to be the guy. He is unproven. Brooks is there for insurance. What better way to compliment the group then with a former #1 pick. Remember, Plunk sat on the bench and didn't throw a pass his first year as a Raider. This could also set the stage for a whole set of things. Trading down for picks, a defensive ball hawk and a couple of o-linemen with a #1 and 2 #2s. So. I like it. PS: While I have been tough on Brooks, I think it is a good signing. I have simply been tough on those who think he is the answer or the probable starter.

Wright has some game, but at this stage he's pretty much relegated to backup duty. Put him with some great players and he could still produce some upside, but you need someone with a bit more physical potential to try and make the most of people like Randy Moss.
