The question is: Can the guy get along with his own nerves?
Brooks had a fabulous season in 2003 (23 TDs, 8 INT, if I remember correctly...) and last year was really a slump, because the whole team was a slump which is somewhat understandable if you look at the situation.
Brooks has great tools to work with and is the right QB for a fragile O-Line since the guy can move. So: If Brooks gets his confidence back and stays calm, he should be an improvement to Collins, not only because he's 4M$ cheaper. After he did his first year we'll se if he's good enough to start the second. If he's not... Walter should have developed just fine by then so we could hand the guy the torch to light it.
I'm not at all pessimistic about that. ASt least we won't draft a QB in the first round then... I still say: Bring in Hawk or another high-profile LB, cuz Ferguson and Huff will probably be gone by the time we're on the board.
