Culpepper Update
An NFL reporter (sorry I didn't catch his name) on COLD PIZZA just reported that the Raiders have offered a 3rd round pick for Culpepper but they have not sealed the deal because they are worried about his knee. Doctors are claiming he may not be ready until the middle of the season and the Raiders are unsure on what to do while he is recovering.

THis is a pretty tough choice all around. I think Culpepper can be good and has been, however it sure is a risk if he cant even play until the middle of the year. I really dont know what the best choice is.

SOLUTION: Sit him for the rest of the year while rehabiing in Alameda. Start Walter to get experience (do we really think we will win it all this year)? Next season, Walter has one year under his belt, at least we know a bit what he can do. By next season we should know what Culpepper and Walter have to offer, then we cross that brdge of who the starter will be.
Its too hard to pass up on Culpepper EVEN with his knee in quesition.

You guys got to remember........Culpepper wanted out and not the other way around. Some of you are making it look like that the Vikes wanted to dump him. Remember that the Vike will pay him but he wanted out.
Now they are desperated bacuse they dont want to take the hit. And that is the reason his value went down.

Doesn't matter, the trade is null and void if the Raiders team doctors say his knee is no good. He has to pass a physical to make the trade legit. |

There is BIG UPSIDE on this, but I would not buy a car if the owner wouldnt let me look under the hood. If the Vikes wont let our doctors look at him then I would be thinking what dont they want us to see. He could be the steal of the year if it all goes good or it could be a bust. I would like us to also be looking at brees, but at 10 million a year coming off an injury is to high. I say we go after a guy like Kitna and let him and walters battle for the starting job.

What scares me is that no-one can look at culpepper from a medical standpoint. I got a simple thought - if there is nothing to hide don't act like there is.
If they don't want to let doctors check him out let them sit on him till they get off there high horses. Got to remember, this is a new ownership trying to make a name for themselves - let them find out the hard way - on what it is like dealing with longtime savy ownerships like Al Davis.

well what if we trade for him and give him millions of dollars. He sits for a year...paid to be on the bench. Then he comes in the next year...takes a hit and that's it. We wasted money that could've been used on other players. If he's gonna sit for one year, you might as well get another decent QB to back up Walter and wait til next year to see who's available if Walter can't hang.
