Mack Stong of the Seattle Seahawks is a fa. I wouldn't mind signing him to block for Lamont and that would make Zack our shortyardage back. This is just me throwing this out there since I have seen alot of people talk about getting a blocking fb.

ya he is a DAMN good FB, but i dont think we are going to use much of a FB this year, i think we are going to utilize the h-back quite a bit this year. we have anderson as our starting TE, foschi makes a good FB/H-Back he just was banged up all year, we were looking at d rafting day from oregon who is an h-back in the draft, and we might draft vernon davis, which would allow us to utilize a dual TE set quite a bit.

mack strong is one of the best at his position and i dont think we will spend a lot of money on a FB, rather, utilize the H-Back position more.

I think Mack Strong is past his prime- he has been solid for years but I say pass on him get some one younger and hungrier.

For example watch his 9 and 1/2 yard recption in the 2nd series of the Superbowl - I mean congrats on the 9.5 yards but when he gets wrapped up he flops over like trout and falls short because he could drag a safety for a half yard in the biggest game of his life.

Harsh I know, but I want to see more effort than that.

Teams are gradually going away from the pure fullback position.Even those like us,who run the Gillman/Coryell offense.
They do have fullbacks who are perfect for that type of play,but they don't utilize them as much as in the past.
I wouldn't spend a part of our precious few F.A. millions on a F.A. fullback,when a damn good one will be available in the late rounds of the draft.I think Matt Bernstein will be available even in the 6th or 7th,due to teams shying away from those type of FBs.
