Why would we cut Warren Sapp? What good is a $100,000 savings towards the cap when you have to replace him.

Wow, that's actually pretty good. Just by ditching Walker, Stone, Gibson and Collins we save about 25 mil. Coupla renegotiations and we're under the cap.

Player Cap number 2006 savings
LB Danny Clark $2,712,000 $1,389,000
QB Kerry Collins $12,897,666 $9,196,997
RB Zack Crockett $2,293,571 $2,079,284
S Derrick Gibson (declined option) $10,201,000 $9,397,000
DE Bobby Hamilton $5,320,000 $4,040,000
DT Warren Sapp $6,097,000 $109,000
OL Ron Stone $3,080,000 $2,760,000
CB Denard Walker $4,590,000 $4,290,000
DT Ted Washington $4,747,000 $1,759,000

Looking at these numbers, I think we can expect to get back to some sort of cap normality fairly easily. Collins, Gibson, Hamilton, Walker, Crockett and Stone are as good as gone (with the exception of Gibson all are way past 30 and are expendable - one or two may re-sign though). This will save us a hefty figure in the region of $31,763,281 by my calculations. This will just about bring us under the cap limit (we're over by around $30m at present). However, we will have no breathing room for any new additions to the side and little spare change for draft picks.

If we can persuade Ted Washington & Warren Sapp to renegotiate their contracts then we'll really be in business. Danny Clark looks decent value at 2.7m considering he's one of the experienced vets on defense at present. Elsewhere, I seem to remember Randy Moss was quite pricey ($8.5m but I doubt we'll be able to move that around much) and Barry Simms was also carrying a hefty cap figure.

There are probably a few other characters we can discard fairly painlessly.

Your right it wouldn't be a savings move it would be a cut our losses by not sinking an extra $4.6 million dollars into a 34-year old with a bum shoulder move. So far we've paid Sapp $9.6 million for the past two years.

even tho our's is a little off the wall. The others seem kind of accurate. We could definately address our needs this offseason.

calm down he is saying POSSIBLE cap cuts he is just listed all that have a 1% chance of being cut. I think it is a good list

we are 31 million over the cap, by the look of this list if we were to cut outright Hamilton, Gibson, Collins, Walker, Stone we would basically be there i expect Hamilton to restructure and crockett probably will too,

Who cares about what Clayton says?

He said it was impossible for the Raiders to acquire Moss and sign Porter and tag woodson.

Then after that happend, he said now we cant get any running back and the next day we overpaid Lamont. Then after that he said we cant acquire anymore freeagents.

We signed Burgess to name one. then he said we cant sign our rookies. WE SIGNED ALL OF THEM!

I thought you guys learned by now. I personally dont listen to the guy (and the rest of bspn for that matter) when it comes to the Raiders.

if we cut collins, gibson, stone, walker, curry(possibly resigned for cheaper), and hamilton that would save us over 33 million putting us under the cap and with a few restructures we would shoudl have enough room tos gin are FAs are draft picks and soem open market FAs

this list has us cutting almost our whole D-line from last year. HAHAHA. WE should pick up Ty Law. Remember when he picked that pass off of brady and ran it back for a TD. Now im not a jets fan, but i even felt good after that.
