Upshaw reveals possible salary cap figures

Todd Archer, of the Dallas Morning News, reports NFLPA executive director Gene Upshaw revealed what he thinks the salary cap will be for the 2006 season. Upshaw believes the salary cap will rise to between $102 million and $104 million if a new collective bargaining agreement is reached. He feels the cap will be between $92 million and $95 million without a new agreement.

If this potential CBA agreement goes through, is the FA period still going to be March 3rd?

If the cap number gets to 102 Million. That woud be great news for the Raiders. All the off-season estimates of our cap situation were figured off of a 90 Million dollar estimate.

Exactly. If thats true then we are only 19 Million over ans we would be able to shave 47 million rather easily. With 28-30 million to spend minus 8-10 or so for the draft we could sign Witherspoon(LB), Howard(DE), Dockery(OL), T. Williams(SS) and Weinke(Backup to Walter). I like everything but Weinke. I think there are better options to push Walter. Once the roster purge begins you will see vets like Brad Johnson, Brian Griese, and possibly Billy Volek become available. Weinke IMO isnt much better than Collins.

Umm.. Johnson or Volek if available are perfect, Griese SUCKS and your right Weinke is not any better than Collins but he's cheap has a strong arm and is a good teamate. Johnson or Volek would be even better if we can get them though.
