according to sportsillustrated TRUTH & RUMORS section....
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...nfl/index.html 2 things to note: 1. Jets seem to be targeting Jay Cutler as their #4 pick. WHAT IT MEANS TO US: Better chance of getting either Mario or A.J. Hawk. 2. Bucs M. Alstott could be a cap casualty WHAT IT MEANS TO US: We are in serious need of a smashmouth FB. An Alstott pick up would be tremendous for this offense DISCUSS |

Saints-Leinart Tennesse-Young Jets-Cutler Packers-Mario/AJ/Williams 49ers-Dbrickashaw Raiders-Mario/AJ/Ngata I only added Ngata because there are rumors that we are also looking at Ngata....But of course the combine changes everything....another problem would be the 49ers losing Peterson and taking AJ although they also need a better offensive line......we still might lose out on the AJ/Mario sweepstakes....it all depends on today's coin toss.....

If Ferguson falls to us at 6 or 7 we might pick him up, since our new coach has said that fixing the OL is a priority. Another possibility would be to trade back a few picks in order to still get a good LB and an extra pick or two.

uhhh, why not? He is shooting up draft boards quickly and is a very talented prospect. There has been some rumors as to the Jets looking at Brees, but i think that talk will diminish as quickly as it appeared. They just go tthru a season where two of their quarterbacks (pennington and fiedler) went down with arm injuries. Im sure they dont want to take a chance on another guy who had an arm injury this past year and is still trying to heal. ALSO- mangini is ridding the JETS with a lot of their players and wants to start fresh - what better way to start fresh then with a rookie franchise qb. heres a link to back up my statements (as far as cutler rising) http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/nfl/ Last edited by theRAIDERking; 02-23-2006 at 04:16 AM. |

If the Jets take Cutler that really does help us especially if we pick 7. Plus remember there were rumors that the Packers are interested in White. I still think they go defense. We would have a good shot at atlest 1 of the two being there at 7 and guarantee one would be there at 6 maybe both.

because that would be like taking Chad Greenway at 4. they could trade down to the 15-25 range and get Cutler.

Hootie Blooties? wtf? ![]() Alstott is not a great blocker and he is a short yardage running specialist. We already have that in Zack Crockett but if Crockett hangs them up, I would look into Mike. If not, I would pass even though I have great respect for Alstott, hw would not be a need at this point. |

OH YEAH???? please look 3 posts up from your post. ALSO read this - http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...rt1/index.html Mock NFL Draft No. 2 Pick Team Pos. Player College Class Ht. Wt. 1 RB Reggie Bush USC Jr. 6-0 200 David Carr contract option or not, we're not taking the bait. The Texans aren't going for hometown hero Vince Young in this slot. They either sit tight and select the draft's biggest game-breaker, or they trade down for a Bush-el of picks. 2 QB Matt Leinart USC Sr. 6-5 225 The USC lefty is a smooth and polished pro-in-waiting, both on and off the field. After listening to him say all the right things at a Super Bowl news conference, I'm convinced he's the kind of solid guy the Saints will want to rebuild around. 3 QB Jay Cutler Vanderbilt Sr. 6-4 228 I had Vince Young going to the Titans in this slot in my first mock draft, but that was then, this is now. Cutler is the quarterback with the hottest buzz heading into the Scouting Combine, and we think the Titans love the kid from their own backyard. 4 QB Vince Young Texas Jr. 6-5 235 Do the Jets, with their obvious need at quarterback given Chad Pennington's iffy shoulder, make Young the next big thing in the Big Apple, answering Eli-mania in New York? Or will the new management tandem of Mike Tannebaum and Eric Mangini shop the pick to a Young-hungry team, thereby maximizing the value of the slot? 5 DE Mario Williams N.C. State Jr. 6-7 285 If it comes down to a choice between the draft's top-ranked defensive end (Williams) or its most highly regarded offensive tackle (Virginia's D'Brickashaw Ferguson), the book says you go with the pass rusher. Nearly every time. 6 OT D'Brickashaw Ferguson Virginia Sr. 6-5 295 Fair is fair. In my first mock, I had the Raiders winning a coin flip that hasn't occurred yet with the 49ers and picking sixth. But this time it comes up heads for San Francisco, which needs defensive help but can't pass on a talent who could protect franchise quarterback Alex Smith's blindside for the next 10 years. 7 LB A.J. Hawk Ohio State Sr. 6-1 240 New/old head coach Art Shell is going to get something of a crash refresher course in collegiate personnel at the Combine. The Raiders' crying need is on defense, and Ohio State's Hawk looks like the cleanest player on the board on that side of the ball. Oakland would do handstands if Williams slipped past No. 5 Green Bay. |
