2 things to note:

1. Jets seem to be targeting Jay Cutler as their #4 pick.
WHAT IT MEANS TO US: Better chance of getting either Mario or A.J. Hawk.

2. Bucs M. Alstott could be a cap casualty
WHAT IT MEANS TO US: We are in serious need of a smashmouth FB. An Alstott pick up would be tremendous for this offense

I hope the Jets do take that QB and leave Hawk or Mario for us. Alstott would be a great addition at FB. We could then use Crock as a 3rd down RB.

Alstott is not a dominant blocker. We need a guy like lorenzo neal or mack strong.

Its like saying since everyone wants Drew Brees, shouldnt we get a guy like Peyton Manning or Carson Palmer?

The difference is Alstott is gonna be available

VERY GOOD NEWS...If the jets take Cutler...it should leave either mario or AJ...and if Dbrickashaw goes...we may have to pick between mario or AJ...that really helps us...possible scenario.....texans-Bush

Packers-Mario/AJ/Williams

Raiders-Mario/AJ/Ngata
I only added Ngata because there are rumors that we are also looking at Ngata....But of course the combine changes everything....another problem would be the 49ers losing Peterson and taking AJ although they also need a better offensive line......we still might lose out on the AJ/Mario sweepstakes....it all depends on today's coin toss.....

If Ferguson falls to us at 6 or 7 we might pick him up, since our new coach has said that fixing the OL is a priority. Another possibility would be to trade back a few picks in order to still get a good LB and an extra pick or two.

He is shooting up draft boards quickly and is a very talented prospect.
There has been some rumors as to the Jets looking at Brees, but i think that talk will diminish as quickly as it appeared. They just go tthru a season where two of their quarterbacks (pennington and fiedler) went down with arm injuries. Im sure they dont want to take a chance on another guy who had an arm injury this past year and is still trying to heal. ALSO- mangini is ridding the JETS with a lot of their players and wants to start fresh - what better way to start fresh then with a rookie franchise qb. heres a link to back up my statements (as far as cutler rising) http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/nfl/

If the Jets take Cutler that really does help us especially if we pick 7. Plus remember there were rumors that the Packers are interested in White. I still think they go defense. We would have a good shot at atlest 1 of the two being there at 7 and guarantee one would be there at 6 maybe both.

Hootie Blooties? wtf?

Alstott is not a great blocker and he is a short yardage running specialist. We already have that in Zack Crockett but if Crockett hangs them up, I would look into Mike. If not, I would pass even though I have great respect for Alstott, hw would not be a need at this point.
