Raiders won't sign anybody

I hate reading all these post saying the Raiders will sign Hutchinson, Bentley, Howard, and the list goes on and on. Last year was the first year we went out and signed young players for big money. The Raiders 90% of the time go out and sign older players that nobody wants. Romo,Sapp,Woodson, this list can go on forever. Plus eveyone fails to realize that the cap issue the Raiders have. I know we have the best capologist in the business but we only have 35 players, I may be wrong, under contract. We need 53. I have no doubt we will get under the cap and sign some marginal players for vet minimums but the Raiders are not going to make a splash in the free agents this season. It's not possible. I know some players will restructure to fee up money but we will be signing players off the dung heap this year. This is not the NBA or MLB where you can sign anyone to any amount of money and the cap doesn't matter. It all depends the collective bargaining agreement.

I love how you act like Romo, Woodson, and Sapp werent good to us by saying nobody wanted them lol thats kinda funny... but just so you know, the Bengals were damn close to signing Sapp before we jumped in, and so what if no one wanted Rod or Romo... we got 'em and they felt like asses.

The Raiders are only a few good players and a competent coaching staff from being a serious contender.

This is the youngest Raider team in years, with the best receiver in the league.

A solid draft & a couple good FA pickups, which I believe WILL happen, this team will be solid.

Way to stay optimistic

I never said that Woodson and Romo didn't play good for us, they played great. I'm saying those are the type of free agents that the Raiders sign. No one wanted them and they played well for us. They played for the NFL veterns minimum. Now that Sapp to Cincy story I think was BS. And he hasn'tplayed that good for us.

you know there are always gonna be the nay sayers anywhere you go. I cant believe this guy thinks were not gonna get any FA. Every single year we get FA signings that help out. Ya sometimes they may be vets or in the final strech of their carrear but almost always they make us better. Gannon was one of the old FA in the end of his carear, but he led this team to the Super Bowl. We never have cap problems thanks to good old Mr Davis and Mr lombardi, and we almost always have at least 1 or 2 high caliber FA signings every year. I love off season just because i never know which superstar will be on our team next year. We've had our problems the last 3 years, but dont loose hope, Art and Al have a plan.....wait and see.

he hasnt?

out of positon he didnt play good for us, but who does out of position?

this season in the 4-3 he played GREAT, in 10 games he played better then a lot of DTs do in 16 games.. sorry but 5 sacks for a DT in the 4-3 doesnt come often, count how many pro bowl DTs his 5 sacks this year in 16 games, and he had an INT.. almost 2, he was a beast against the run all year, his presence was so strong that when he got hurt we didnt win a single game after that.

I kinda like some of the older vets. Complements our younger guys. Had it not been for the Woodson signing, there would have been no int in Denver and our season might have turned out differently. Raiders always sign people. We always get under the cap and have cash left over. Might not be a bad idea to pay the piper now and get down under it for next year. Kinda wish we had done that this last year or the last 3 for that matter.

sapp was effective while he was playing for us. he had 5 sacks through ten games for the silver and black. if you were to average that out and multiply it by 16 that would be 8 sacks on the season from the dt spot. not too bad for a dt IMO.

i agree psly2124, you explain well the situation , i am very tired to see people dream and imagine we can bring 3 or 4 big fa, also a lot of people think if woodson is gone all our cap problem will be finish. first woodson does not count on the cap now. we are 31 millions over and we have only 39 or 41 players with contract, we must sign probably 13 to 15 players to make the 53 players roster. cut collins, stone, crockett, grant, washington, gibson and d.walker and we are always over the cap about 8 millions and we must sign more than 15 players to have at 53.

if saap, sims, porter and jordan retsructure we probably save another 8 millions, but we are just ok with the cap and still need to bring 15 players, so you really imagine we will be able to bring brees, hutchinson, bentley , t.williams.

since 5 years davis push the problem years after years, but now he will be impossible to push the problem for one more year, last year because gannon quit he save the situation, but this year davis will cut a lot's of veteran players if he wants to have 53 players on the roster

not too bad??? thats beastly for a DT lol

the only DTs who get over 8 sacks are the likes of Rod Coleman and maybe a few others, you wont find many at all that get close to that, you wont find many at all that even hit 5 sacks!! Sapp did it in 10 give the man his props.
