Profootballtalk.com chimes in
I posted this here because, while fun to read, profootballtalk.com is the National Enquirer of NFL news.
http://www.profootballtalk.com/rumormill.htm FASSEL THINKS HE MIGHT GET RAIDERS GIG There's talk in league circles that Ravens offensive coordinator Jim Fassel believes he's got a real shot at becoming the next head coach of the Oakland Raiders. Some league insiders believe that Steelers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt won't accept the Raiders job, if it's offered to him. "He'd be one of the top candidates next season and could probably pick his job," said one league source. With most of the offensive starters returning to the Steelers and another full offseason to work with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, Whisenhunt's star will only rise in 2006 -- as will offensive line coach Russ Grimm's. Possible head coaching vacancies could arise a year from now in Baltimore, Tennessee, Jacksonville, San Diego, Dallas, Atlanta, Arizona, and Seattle. |

Fassel would love the job in Oakland!
1. He likes Collins, would love to work with him again. 2. Wants a NFL job as a head coach! 3. Has a prior Hisory with Oakland 4. Sees the Off. weapons and would love to have a shot at this offense! Does he think he can have the job, probably due to the factors above and the history he has with the players on this team, the organization and he fits into the Raider mold at coach. Offensive minded, a guy Davis likes due to his knowledge of that side of the ball and he has had sucess in NY in the past. |

I dont think it will be Fassel. However if it is oh well. He wasnt terrible in NY IMO. I would prefer somebody else. I love how everybody says they want a new guy no retreads. Like the only guys that can be good head coaches are the ones with no head coaching experience. I know we want new fresh ideas but but those guys dont always work out either. We could all be wrong about Fassel he could come here and do a great job as well as we could be right and he doesnt do anything. Lets see what happens.
