Ravens after Collins?
Reports continue to claim that the Ravens will go hard after Kerry Collins if he's released by the Raiders.

We don't think Collins' release is necessarily a slam dunk. He'd take a paycut to stay in Oakland. But if Collins is let go, look for his former coach Jim Fassel to make a strong push for Collins to challenge Kyle Boller for the Baltimore job.

Collins has a huge roster bonus coming up. Everybody knows we'll either restructure him or cut him before thats due. By leaking their interest in him to the media the Ravens are pretty much giving Collins a good reason not to restructure with us because now he knows he has a landing spot once he is cut.

I don't want him, restructured contract or not. Offer him and see what else it would take to get Ray. If the price is right, do it (obviously). If not, we can just cut him, it wouldn't be the end of the world.

It would be nice, but I think that if we trade him it gives us a big cap hit, at least bigger than if we just release him though i could be wrong

I really hope we get Ray out of this, somehow. It would be great, you know, killing two birds with one stone. Getting rid of Collins and picking up some needed help on defense.

if we are going to use him as trade bait, we will restructure his contract to league minimum and obviously not let kerry think we are gonna trade him. Then we use him as trade bait. Othewrwise- he will definitely be released.

The Ravens want Collins. I think they would go out of their way in a sense to pick him up if they're so sure that he's their man at quaterback. If that's all true, why can't we get someone that we help us equally? We need help on defense and apparently they would like some help at quaterback. Ray to Oakland and Kerry to Baltimore makes perfect sense. Probably going to need to throw some picks in there on our side.

Oakland would be really smart to trade collins because i heard that jim assel wants collins and if we dont end up with the whiz at HC its a big chance jim fassel going to be in oakland with collins @ QB
