Singletary, Rivera and Carthon

A lot of people here are high on these three guys, while I only know bare facts about each guy, can anyone provide some information so I can see why they will be such a great choice for our team? Again, I have no real clue about any of them, just asking for some info. Thanks

Thumbs up R00 you got that right; excellent moves; Rivera is the man

Ron Rivera was one of the great Cal Bear linebackers in the history of the school. He played on the 1985 Bears superbowl team and had an o.k. pro career.

He is very smart and well liked by everyone. When he became the defensive coordinator for the Bears 2 years ago, the Bears defense was crap and they lost many games in the fourth quarter. The year he took over, they became one of the best defenses on third down, (this year they are the best defense on third down) and broke records for defensive scoring.

His style is very aggressive and very physical. If you aren't tough you don't play defense for the Bears. The Bears offense is a joke but with that defense they sometimes outscore the oppositions offense. I love the guy. He's also not a blow hard so Al Davis won't be threatened by him. With all of the good LB's and DL's in the draft, he'd be a great signing.

I don't see too many Raiders going offsides if Singletary is the man. No nonsense and takes no crap from anyone. The Raiders are not tough anymore and these signings would be too awesome and be a nice start to fixing all of this crap.

Add Sean Payton as Offensive coordinator and you've got a really nice, young, player friendly atmosphere. I love bright young coaches instead of these tired retreads. Nice job guys.

I thought I read "Better add Children to that list".

We don't need Michael Jackson hanging around camp.......

I would love like I keep saying hehe Rivera as coach and Singletary as our Defensive Coordinator, he is only an Assistant so he would be an upgrade to coordinator. If anybody can finally fix the linebackers it's these two. Plus, the players won't dare get out of line with these two.

Somebody already answered on Riveria, I'm also high on Mike Singletary (as is numerous coaches, former coaches, players). Here is why ...

He is the assist. HC/LB coach in SF - http://www.sf49ers.com/team/CoachesBio.asp?CoachID=74
Quote:
Singletary teamed with 49ers head coach Mike Nolan the previous two seasons as the Baltimore Ravens inside linebackers coach. Players have flourished under his tutelage, including Ray Lewis, who earned 2003 NFL Defensive Player of the Year honors. Under Singletary, the inside linebackers have finished first and second in tackles in each of his seasons coaching the position. He was also part of a coaching staff that directed the Ravens defense to a third overall finish in 2003 and sixth overall in 2004.
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slu...ight&type=lgns
Quote:
On the field, Singletary practices tough love. He puts his linebackers through a series of drills that border on the cruel and unusual.

In one drill, his linebackers crouch low under a 4-foot high awning and shuffle side-to-side, over and over again while Singletary screams a mixture of kudos and criticisms.
Quote:
"The one thing that I tell my players is I want everything you've got," Singletary said. "I'm demanding that every day. But at the same time, they know I'm demanding that from myself.

"I don't ever want to come out here unprepared. I don't ever want to come out here and cheat them. So I'm just telling them not to cheat themselves."
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl...PG7TEIL8T1.DTL
Quote:
Hartwell remembers that Singletary essentially told the players to forget what they had learned because he was taking them back to the fundamentals.

"Every linebacker on that team had some bad habits to get rid of, and that's what he did, improved all our shuffling and our reads and made us all better, every last one of us -- even Ray," Hartwell said by telephone from Atlanta, where he now plays for the Falcons.
Quote:
"But when Singletary tells you to do something, asks you to do a certain technique, what are you going to say? I mean, he did it, he's been there, he's done that, so he holds a ton of respect."

ron would cut the penalties down. the false starts and holding that kill our drives. i dont think hed mind much for the hard penalties that intimidate.
