Coaching Potential

With all the rumors running around about Norv Turner getting fired (God I hope they're accurate), I'd like to know who the potential candidates are to replace him.

I for one wouldn't mind seeing helmet head himself Jimmy Johnson on the sidelines for the Raiders. I hated him in Dallas, but the guy did get results.

Of course I would be open to other suggestions, but he's the first that comes to mind, that has actually had great success in the past.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if we ended up with Maurice Carthon or Al Saunders. These are guys who have both interviewed for this job in the past and they fit what Al usually looks for. I honestly don't believe that there's a job in the world that could take J.J. away from his posh lifestyle.

I recommend 0aklandhomi3

Who's that you ask?

See the following link:

http://www.raiderfans.net/forum/show...hlight=reasons

To quote Oaklandhomi3:

Quote:
I could cahnge the raiders to make them what they once were a power horse rather then a dead horse.

#1.Get rid of collins trade him get some draft picks hes a has BEEN!

RESAON y= If you have a play maker on your team (randy moss)throw to him! Instead of throwin to jordan who leads the raiders frachise in recptions come on whurs moss will he ever make 100 tds wit collins?cuz he has 95.Lets make moss actualy earn his pay check!!!

#2.Trade sum players to the vikings for daunte cullpeper.

REASON=rember the good days well they will even get better wit him and moss together. come on he has the speed to aviod sacks and the arm to mke plays! instead of collins.

#3.fire lamont jordan!

REASON=he will always be a back up and any way there will be plenty of cheaper backs to buy/ draft SUCH as Shaun alexander,Jamal lewis yes he will run for the $$$$.

#4. Let woodson become a free anget wats the worse that could happen?nothin he was a heisman bust! Broken leg will make his value next to nothin and he wants to be paid top dallor? we can draft a better cb! or even shop for one. wats woodson do???nothing we have the same record wit him playin.

#5.relase Marques Tuiasosopo hes nothin we should of started walters over him vs. the jets.

#6.drop ted washington

REASON= he isnt geting any younger and his skill isnt geting any better enough said.

#7.change depth chart for kr and punt return

reason =carr runs into the taklers and switch him to fargas

#8.relase bobby hamltion

reason look @ #6.

and there will be better draft d ends or fre angets.

#9.fix the staidum who wants to watch base ball on a football feild?

#10. decrase salries to players who commit pentalies.
REASON=it will stop and pervent penatlies commited.
#11.pick up steve mncnair he still has sum football talent left in him and he would be a great back up for cheap$.

#12. fire nov tuner any one could do a better job than he is doing.

JJ.. will NEVER come to Oakland while Davis is still living.. Johnson will want TOTYAL control, and Al is not giving that up..

as for the points in the Oaklandhomi3 post...To many of them are so far fetched, and a reach that MOST are just wishful thinking..

I want Maurice Carthon. This is crazy to say, and I anticipate all of cyberspace to come down on this...but who gives a $hit. I would like another African-American head coach. This old boy network sucks and the brothers breaking the barrier have done great (see Dungy, Lovie Smith, Herm Edwards, Marvin Lewis, Art Shell, etc.) I'm not Al Campanis, but hear me out. There is a lot of great talent out there, and Maurice Carthon is better than just about everyone else. It's no secret that the majority of pro athletes are African-American. Who better to communicate and motivate the modern athlete than a peer? Scandalous...perhaps. I'm not basing my opinion on race, Carthon is a great candidate. I'm only saying let's get the best candidate possible, and let's be realistic. No haters please.

JJ has stated the only way he would return to football is fi the situation was right and that things were done his way.. so BS. to him coming to the Raiders anytime soon...Not to mention JJ said on FOX, there was NO team with a coaching vacancy that he would seriousily consider, leaving the booth for..

I don't see JJ coming back -- he's seen what happened to Gibbs, Parcell, etc.

Here's Len Pastrami on coaching prospects:

I think a good possible option is Dr. George O'Leary. [http://ucfathletics.collegesports.co...george00.html]

I'm all for another African-American head coach. I went to the Monday Night game at the Meadowlands with my Raiders taking on the New York Jets to witness the first NFL game ever coached by an African-American, Mr. Art Shell. It was an ugly game, but the Raiders won.

I always thought that Art Shell got a raw deal from Al Davis. There's only been one coach since Shell got fired that was any good.

Maurice Carthon may be the way to go. He's been on the coaching sidelines for over ten years. Who knows if he can make the jump to head coach, but he can't be any worse than the white re-treads we keep going through.

I like the idea of Jimmy Johnson only because he was a good coach, and great at evaluating talent. His Dallas draft picks were second to none.

By the way, people hold is because they get beat on the play.. and they just wanna protect a QB. You start to fine people for it.. and then they wont care about their QB. Instead start worrying about their wallet.
