Ron Rivera...your next Raider coach...

The Godfather has rarely gone with an ex-defensive coordinator as a head coach. However, let's not forget that John Madden was a defensive coordinator before taking the head coaching gig at Oakland. The last I checked, Madden was a damn good coach.

Some people in here have mentioned Ron Rivera and with good reason. He's currently the defensive coordinator of the Bears, that is being hailed as one of the best defenses ever, but he's also coached in Philly as well. Let's see, Rivera has had the chance to pick the brains of such coaches as Lovie Smith, Jim Johnson, and Buddy Ryan...by all accounts players love to play for him, and he's a Bay Area product to boot...to me,this is a no brainer...

Only if Al Davis isnt making the decision's.I like the choice, but i wouldnt bet on it.Al has hurt the Raiders reputation in regards to obtaining a coach who would have total control or more so than what he gives Norv anyhow.Has Al learned anything?Time will tell!

I think it's time to get a defensive minded coach. We sure didn't score the points we thought we would this year with an "offensive genius."

Build a D that can keep us in games and the rest will settle itself.

On his bio it said that his parents were born in Puerto Rico.

It's also interesting to note that he was born in Ford Ord, when it was actually operational, because his father was an officer in the Army.

Not to argue with you but Madden was not a defensive Coordinator when we hired him, he was the LB'ers coach only.

With Randy Moss - Jerry Porter - LaMont Jordan, running the offense should a no-brainer. We need a defensive mind at the reigns to shut down the AFC West. Not winning a division game for the first time since the 60's is unacceptable.
