Raider Fans Take Charge

I started this dialogue several weeks ago, and got threatend to be thrown of this web site by the administrators. I also got called various names such as a traitor. The writting has been on the wall for the entire season. Norv Turner had no game plan and the team has no disapline. Collins is not the quaterback that will take you to the Superbowl so why stick with him. This is our team, the Raider fans who spend a lot of money going to the games and buying the merchandise. Its not cheap to support a sports team. I have spent thousands of $$ in my 20 years of support. This team is an embarrassment to the fans and the organization. This is not a rebuild it is a complete colapse, and anyone who studies this game saw it comming week in and week out this season. As a fan I know how I can start to get things turned around, or at least get the organizations attention to relize that we won't stand for this type of lack of respect for the fans.

That to me sounds like a classic bandwagon fan. Abandon the team becuase things do not go as planned. Yeah, I am pissed at Norv's complete incompitence. I am pissed that our O-Line couldn't protect fran Tarkington from a pass rush of Lenny & Squiggy. BUT I will NEVER turn my back on the Raiders. Win lose or tie, I am a Raider till I die. PERIOD

Now go and sell your Raider gear on Ebay, it looks like the Colts are the bandwagon to be on this year. Or maybe you will wait until after the superbowl so you can rep a winning team.

When times get tough I dont give up. Norv is gone in 7 days and whether Collins is gone isnt that important. He's not my favorite but I cant lay all the blame on him.
I still ware my colors proud. Been through bad times before. I also dont see players doggin' it.

This post is about full as **** , As i have ever seen! Maybe you should boycott this site also. I will support this team no matter what, I will continue to buy merchandise because i support the team no matter what. I hate the losing but this is not the answer.

I get frustrated with some of the decisions that get made too, but nobody's gonna notice if you don't buy any more t-shirts, Try writing a letter to Al Davis..

I agree with everybody else.No matter what Raiders til I die. I will continue to buy and wear my Raiders gear no matter how things are going. Yes I am frustrated about how things are going but I will always support them.

DITTO! Thats exactly what I do, even tho I am really pissed about the 3rd season in a row that this organization seems to be lettin everyone down and I willingly have expressed it on this very site, at times.....So be it~ I still rep, ALWAYS. I don't like the losses however, I STILL accept/have respect for my chosen team, nothing will ever change that. God willing, things will be different next year.

It's not called bandwagoning Sith. Its more like BrianB600 being a fairweather fan. Someone who is all piss and vinegar when we do well and walks away when things go bad.

Before I got this gig as a staff writer, I was a season ticket holding member of the Black Hole and good friends of the many faces of the Black Hole; Raider Rob, lack Hole Rob, Steph, Gen Man, Lord Mordrid, Gorilla Rilla, Dr. Dolemite, the list goes on. Now, being a media member, I get to sit in the Press Box for free...and yet I STILL purchase season tickets to this very day in my very same Black Hole Section and seat. WHY...you may ask? To quote Raiderman (on Raiderhed's CD), "I...am....a...Raiderfan.....I....AM....A.....RAID ER FAN!!!!!"

So, if you want to boycott the team BrianB600 because you don't approve of the leadership on this team, by all means do so. That is your inalienable right as an American citizen. But don't tell other folks what they should do! If I or anyone else wants to buy A new Raider hat, by all means...run out there and by yourself one. Hell...buy another one for your niece or nephew that NEEDS to know that the RAIDER NATION has more to do with familiy and community than it does wins and losses. If you feel the need to not give the Raiders your hard earned money until they show they're worthy of it, by all means do so. But don't preach to the choir by saying you will have nothing to do with MY team until they win again!

Half the fun of Raider games is being with my friends at the butt crack of dawn, waiting in line for hours before the front gate even opens. Some actually tailgate outside the gates as early as Friday night (Griz and the 66th Mob). Once the gates open, its full tilt with the canopy pitched, the grill firing up, and the TV, PS2, stereo hooked up to the generator! Regardless of the game score, I will continue to attend the games. Like the motto goes, "Win Lose or Tie...Raiders Till I Die!"

What is truly sad is all this Boycott crap. If it weren't for the Lions fans doing this, the word boycott wouldn't even be a part of some's vocabulary! To be like those ETERNALLY bad Lions and its fans is a true mark of copy-catism and shows a real lack of pride to stand up and be true to your team regardless of its situation! Look at all those Bengals fans over the decades. Their patience has finally paid off. Hell...look at the Chargers fans (it sickens me to say). For decades, they have racked up more losing seasons than the number of times Bobby Brown has been arrested and Whitney Houston hits the pipe! Yet, they STILL remain loyal. Disgruntled mostly, but loyal none-the-less.

So don't spread you malcontent traitorist, fairweather views upon us REAL fans Mr. BrianB600. The team may suck right now, but it is MY TEAM that is sucking right now and I wouldn't change my affiliation just because its got its proverbial head up its ass right now! I'm here for the long haul!!!

Nah, I don't think so. I could never stop purchasing or wearing Raider gear. People wouldn't know me if I wasn't wearing something that had the Raiders logo on it!

Boycotting Raider merchandise will accomplish nothing. Don't you think Al already knows how disappointed and frustrated the fans are? Do you really think that Al is not disappointed and frustrated? Do you think the players are not disappointed and frustrated?

Things will change in the off-season. Norv will be gone, as will Collins. We will get back to being the Raiders again sooner than later , I think.

Besides... what else looks as bad-ass as Raiders gear?

I've got a Raider gland that requires its fix. Been watching and rooting for the same team since I can remember. The recent drop to the bottom of the barrel only makes my addiction stronger. I would hope other Raider fans are like that too.

I went into a team spirit shop the other day here in Omaha, to find some Dolphin gear for my future father-in-law for Christmas (wasn't a joke - he's a Dolphin fan). I walked by to see if they had the new sideline caps for the Raiders, and they didn't (I didn't see them for any team - of course, I live in Omaha).

As usual, there's ONE rack that's empty... It's in the Raider section with the plain black cap and white shield. They never have any of those. I had to ask when they expected a shipment so I could get mine.

And, so, my point is - in an area that is full of KC and Denver fans (due to the networks constantly airing the Chiefs and Broncos) you can't find Raiders stuff? (BTW, I'm not so foolish as to not know who's wearing it.) I'm sorry, but one or two or 10 or 100 aren't going to be missed.

This is a time when the true fans should support their team, and bandwagoners have a lot of other choices to choose from.

I will never stop wearing Raider gear regardless of how bad the team is playing. Besides, for every valley experience there follows a mountain top experience. The Raiders shall rise to the top again. You can bet your bottom dollar on that, as long as Al is at the helm.

Brian, I think a merchandise boycott is a little ridiculous. What I do agree with that most Raider fans won't is that this organization is an embarassment. We were once one of the elite oragnizations in football and we have become the laughing stock of the league. We are now what the Arizona cardinals once were, maybe still are. One the Cincinatti Bengals once were. There are "maybe" two or three organizations in the whole league that have less direction than us. It is difficult for us to get good head coaches because of Al's meddling. We continue trying to "reload" when we need to rebuild. There is really just a lot wrong with this team. With that being said I am very happy about some of the young talent we have and think we have a chance but my heart really tells me that in two to three years the young talet we have will be succeding elsewhere ala Rod Coleman. Not being completely optimistic does not make you not a fan. This team has sucked for 6 of the last 9 years. We went from the Super Bowl to being a three year joke. Wake up and smell the coffee Al. Hire a good coach and let him do his job. You are running out of time!
