Does anybody agree with me that rich gannon would be a great coach, if norvel is fired, my reason are rich is a leader a true leader he knows how to beat a defense, he was a qb and he will demand respect from all his players and they will play for him he would know what to do with randy moss and porter and curry he would utilize all his weapons , and romo would be his defensive coordinater , which would keep the defensed pump and have them ready to play and play like savages , uh who agrees with me, just win baby.

In any case, neither of these guys are viable solutions. You are basing everything on feeling, personality, and emotion. It takes MORE than that to win games. We need a head coach that has BEEN THERE before (experience) and someone who is a Type A personality that has PROVEN X's and O's smarts.

Gannon has the right type of personality to be a head coach, that's for sure. But like others have said, he doesn't have any experience coaching anything at any level. And like others have said, he would probably be a great qb coach, but is there such a thing as giving a guy a chance to be a qb coach in the hopes that he'll be HC material one day? I've never heard of it.
As for spending more time with his family, I think that is big for him right now. But for a guy like Gannon, it might be hard to stay away from the intense competition of the NFL. He's the type of person who thrives on that stuff-something most people don't. So maybe in the future, he can get some experience at some kind of coaching position, but I think we're looking at years down the road; and there's no guaranteeing he would coach for the Raiders. |

Gannon said he wasn't willing or yet ready to make such a committement
of being a head coach.that's the only reason why i would say no. |

Exactly, that was the only reason he took the Job from CBS, he had offers to keep playing from the Colts, and he had a few QB coach offers from us, But he rejected them so that he could move back to Minnesota, and relax with his family. I would've done the same thing If I was in his shoes, He knows he's not ready for Coaching yet.

Rich at HC? I doubt it, like everyone is saying, no experience at any coaching level. QB coach would be great, but I remember alot of espn segments, sports articles, and news clips which showed and talked about Rich Gannon being an offensive genius and designing many plays himself. His work ethic is superb, hes smart as hell, he worked hand in hand with the OC, spent the last season in Oakland in the OC booth helping out (ya I know we sucked then too), and he doesn't accept losing period. I say bring back Art Shell and let Gannon give OC a shot, it's not like we can do much worse.
