Chiefs targeting Carrol?

The long and close friendship between Chiefs president Carl Peterson and his coach, Dick Vermeil, could soon be tested in a major way. Vermeil is expected to announce his retirement after the Chiefs' season is over. He's made it clear that he'd like to see the team's offensive coordinator, Al Saunders, replace him. But league sources say Peterson isn't as bullish on Saunders as Vermeil is. One name that is believed to be on Peterson's radar is USC coach Pete Carroll.

Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio has been mentioned as a possible head-coaching candidate at his alma mater, Southern Cal, if Carroll leaves to take an NFL job after the season. Del Rio has 2 years left on his current deal with Jacksonville. That would prevent him from taking another NFL job, but not a college job. Del Rio is not happy with his contract, which pays him just $1.3 million this season and $1.4 million next year. The only NFL coach making less is Mike Tice.

Of course that's what he says in the public, he's about to coach his team for the national championship. Carrol has put feelers in the NFL to guage the interest level of teams. If he gets a good offer, he'll jump.

I would imagine that Pete is on everyone's radar. The Queefs aren't nearly the only ones. What? You think the Raiders wouldn't be interested? But, it's pretty much a consensus that Pete wouldn't want to come here. Carrol? He's on everyone's radar. He's lining up and favored to win his 3rd National Title in a row.

Remember Pete Carrol's last NFL gig when he took the Pats from SB Team to the outhouse? It didn't take long for Belichek to turn the team into a Dynasty.

Seriously I'm hoping he gets the gig so we can return to beating up the Chiefs on a regular basis :-)

Carrol Is just another college coach who will be eaten alive in the NFL.

Being an SC Grad, I know for a fact that Carrol will stay in College. It's just too good of a lifestyle to give up....The NFL treated him awful when he was a Coach, he has no reason to return.

Now maybe if the Trojans Struggle next year, then he can pull a Nick Saban and ditch his Job, but for now, he has no reason to leave.
