Does Denny Green want Raiders job?

DOES DENNY WANT OUT OF THE DESERT?

John Czarnecki of FOXSports.com reported last month on rumors that Cardinals coach Dennis Green might try to get out from under the last three years of his contract with the team. And those rumblings continue to make the rounds as the coaching carousel gears up for another whirl.

As we hear it, the thinking is that Green wants to hit the market in a year when there are too many seats and not enough qualified rear ends to fill them. We also have a feeling that Denny might have his eyeballs on the looming vacancy in Oakland, where Norv Turner most likely will be out the door.

Green signed a five-year contract in 2004 with the Cardinals. He previously coached the Vikings from 1992 through December 2001.

What makes this a likely "damn near impossible" scenario is he fact that Green is contractually obligated to remain as the Cardinals head guy for 3 more years. They only way he could get out of that deal, if he chooses to, is to:

a) Give back any up-front money if given by the Owners

b) Pay the Cardinals some amount of money for breaking the contract

c) Has a clause in his currnet contract that allows him to legally consider, apply, and accept another head coaching job after being on the job for two years

Unfortunately, Profootballtalk doesn't offer any glimpse on any of these scenarios to support such a rumor. So, as with many of their articles, this latest story is nothing but total crap that anyone with a computer and a copy of "Hooked On Phonics" can put together.

They were the first to report Norv and the Moss trade. So this could be possable.

I wouldn't mind Denny Green at all.....We always are a rumored destination for Denny though....We hired Chucky back when it was heavily speculated he was a strong possibility, and when we hired Norv's sorry ass he was a strong candidate as well.

i'd take denny today.we should have hired him 2 years ago instead of good old norv.al,make it happen.denny may get the most out of moss.whatever happens in the offseason getting a new qb and head coach are of paramount importance if this team is to be competitive in the afc west.if we lose to denver on sat. that makes the raiders 2-16 in the west since '03.things must change!

Is Green the kind of guy we'd want though? Here he is, apparantly, wanting out of Arizona.......for what reasons we don't know, but if the rumors are true he wants out. All I can presume is that things aren't going his way, not the way he thought that they would with the Arizona Cardinals Organization. Now, what happens in a few years IF things don't go the way he wants in Oakland? What's worse is a meddling owner that thinks his way is the right way.

That being said, as a coach......I'd want him in Oakland, wanted him two years ago.........but would he really want to come to Oakland?
