Raiders might leave Oakland after 2010?
I hate to bring up rumors of the Raiders leaving Oakland again but I saw this in the Mercury News
From The Mercury News Raiders Q &A:

Hi Steve, thanks for the great work you do. I am a PSL holder and am more concerned about the Raiders staying in Oakland beyond the 2010 season when their lease expires than I am about having to "renew" my PSL's if it comes to that. As a long-time fan (Blanda & Co.) my fan-roots run deep and do not want a repeat heartbreak like the one of the 1980's. Are the Raiders here for good or do we stand a chance of them moving yet again. You're the insider and love to hear your input on the matter. I know there has been talk that the two sides are at least talking. Any progress?

Al in Sac, No one knows, for sure, of the Raiders' (re: managing general partner Al Davis)intention beyond their lease expiration after the 2010 season. However, I wouldn't be encouraged by Davis' refusal to commit to a lease extension when asked last Tuesday what his plans were beyond the current lease. Things would have to improve dramatically in the next five seasons for Davis and the city and county to want to continue their relationship. Both sides are either losing vast sums of money or not making as much as they'd like. Davis wants to see sellouts and luxury suites packed, if not a new stadium deal in place. Also, it bears noting that the NFL still wants a team back in Los Angeles, which means it has to be an existing franchise. If that hasn't been solved by the time the Raiders' lease expires, I would fully expect the Raiders to explore that option once again. So, my best guess is, I don't expect the Raiders to extend their lease in Oakland. They likely will return to the Los Angeles area, extract a new stadium deal from the local politicians or move elsewhere. Sorry to sound so pessimistic, but I have been around far too long to be naive to the workings of the Raiders. Take care. Sincerely, Steve.

I doubt they'll move back to LA as those bridges have been burned beyond repair (see Irwindale) but sadly I think that the chances of them moving out of the Oakland area are better than average.
