Think we will/should trade of RW Mcquarters?

Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports the Chicago Bears continue to look for ways to trade CB R.W. McQuarters. One league source said the asking price is so low, it's a foregone conclusion McQuarters will not be with the team when training camp opens in 10 weeks. One coach said Monday, May 9 the Bears are seeking only a seventh-round pick in exchange for McQuarters. The coach, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said McQuarters will most likely be released if a trade can't be worked out.

I think we should, there not asking for much and he is a solid FS. We could use a good FS on the team bad, mcquarters is not at a bad age, puts up pretty good numbers, and I think he would be a definent upgrade at the FS position. Lets be honest, we really have no clue of how good schweigert is and hes got an injury to add to it, we cant rely on inexperienced 3rd round players we should get the best at every position instead of hoping that schweigert will adapt and be productive so if the Raiders did make a move for mcquarters I would be all for it but theres no word on that yet.

Not sure how much of an upgrade it is other than, I would take him over No Play Ray for sure. There has to be a reason that the Bears are releasing him for next to nothing. Does he play FS I always thougth he was a CB. Sweigert has a bruised calf. McQuarters does return punts and kicks so that might also be a plus.

he was moved to FS. The bears are releasing him cuz of cap reasons, they want to upgrade at LB since they got 2 CBs that they feel are better then mcquarters and they have mike brown at FS. Its not cuz they think hes a bad player is cuz hes a starter on a team that he has no chance of starting on as bad as that sounds being that it is the bears but that is the case and I think he would make a fast, playmaking safety for us and ey we need all the help we can get and at that price hes affordable.

I am from Chicago. McQuarters has moments where he looked like an all-pro. Then he has moments were he is average. All in all he never nailed down the starting job in a weak secondary with the Bears. I like him. Average to All-pro is better than average to poor. But we have a solid secondary with limited resources to build on what we need to. I vote not to think about it. I also say Ray Buchanon will be in our system for the second year and nobody seems to recall he was playing safety for the first time on a new team with a new (poor) defense. Give him a shot. The guy has had a stellar career in the secondary.

I thought McQuarters was a CB. never heard of him being moved to FS. He's too small for a safety at 5'8", maybe 5'9".

I would be interesting if we did pick him up. Remember hwne he was drafted by the Whiners the same year we got CWood, and McQuarters said he was a better CB? That would be interesting to see how the two interacted with each other.

I have never been much of a fan of RW McQuarters. I saw how he played with the Niners.... Nah. Not my taste. I would rather invest in someone else.

Welcome to the board..Thanks for the info on McQuarters...But as for No Play Ray your not going to find anyone banging the drum behind you.

my main concern is that, im not a schweigert hater at all although I strongly believe he isnt the answer at FS at this moment but if he is going to be the future FS on this team he will need someone to learn behind. We should bring in someone who can be productive at FS and brings experience to show schweigert the ropes, NPR has the experience but not the talent, I like the way RW McQuarters looks right now but hes not the sure answer either. If we cant get anyone we should go for him as a last resort, if the Raiders want to build a superbowl team then I wouldnt be suprised if they go after him cuz its an obvious need our 30th rank pass defense doesnt lie.

I would like it to happen but know it probably won't! We have layed down an offer for Ray ray and he looks like he'll be returning uinfortunately...

McQuarters has his shiny moment, but can have his off days, but is more consistent than P.Buch in this department... He was displaced by two very good young CB's in Azumah and Tillman in Chi-town, and would give Stu a guy to look up to at FS and maybe even a short term upgrade at the position, not to mention his contribution at CB and asb a dangerous kick/punt returner... If the asking price is 5th rounder i think he would be a solid addition.

Until I see a real report not some homers home page on his web site hugging a drunk No Play I will not believe No Play is coming back..
