Possible Woodson Deal

I have been mulling over whether Woodson will get traded by this weekend, and the only scenario that I can think of is trading him to the N.O. Saints. If not them, then I guess we will be seeing #24 back with the Silver and Black, whether we like it or not. The trade that I hope will happen goes like this:
Raiders 1st Rnd. Pick, #25 - CB Charles Woodson - Raiders 3rd Rnd. Pick, #69
for
Saints 1st Rnd. Pick, #16 - DE Darren Howard
Hopefully the Saints throw in another late round draft pick, but I will be very content with this trade as well.

CHARLES WOODSON

If we can figure out a long-term deal with Woodson, I'd actually rather keep him. He is still a great CB and we can't afford to lose such talent, IMO. (Unless we can pick up Surtain or Law . . .)

In your dreams homeboy, if we trade C-Wood, we WILL HAVE TO draft another CB, and I'm not for it...

Yep. There isn't a CB in the draft that could replace Woodson. We're keeping him.

I beleive there are CB's that can replace him, but I figure we need other positions more than corner right now...

Well, IMO, there are none that could replace him effectively short term. Long term, yes however. I agree with the fact that we need different positions, though.

Sadly I agree we are keeping him and his huge cap number, I do disagree with the thought we need him, with the new rule change you just need a middle of the road CB with some speed, C-Wood is a physical corner that will get a ton of penalties this season so not only do we have his salary anchor around our necks but we will have quite a few drives extended because of penalties on C-Wood. I would trade him for whatever we can get.

Well, if we sign him long-term, the cap would benefit anyway. We don't have to lose him to help the cap. Oh, and if the only reason you want to trade him is because of the POTENTIAL penalties, it could be worse . . .

C-wood has made it more then clear over the last 2 seasons he will only sign a massive contract and is willing to hold the Raiders cap hostage till he gets it and in my opinion he can take that selfish act somewhere else. Corners are not as important as they use to be because of the new rules so one of two things will happen with C-Wood this season 1. He will play off and try to be a true cover corner with out being physical and will beat like Bailey or 2. He will get flagged a lot for illegal contact and extend drives. Your pass defense comes from PASS RUSH with these new rules so I say get rid of him free up the cap and build a dominant pass rush and get another servicable CB to replace him.

IMO, there are really no other teams that are seriously looking at acquiring this big salary and if this is really the case, he stays. If we can't trade him, we can't cut him because (correct me if I'm wrong) we keep his salary on our cap. Al will figure something out.

Easier said than done obviously, replacing corners nowadays is much harder these days IMO, only because so much technique comes into play now. And C-Wood has alot of great technique at corner, unlike alot of CBs out there, so that definatly benefits.
Add his technique to a pass rush from guys like Burgess, then you got a good corner...
So in that last part I agree

Exactly. If we can somehow resign him and further develop our pass rush and linebacker corps, our defense will be great and Woodson would be worth the crazy salary.

I Am Not A Big Fans Of Woodson But Now We Trade Buchanan And Also Because We Are Poor At Lb Spot I Think It's Better To Keep Woodson, We Need Talent On Defense, We Cannot Play Just With Asomugha And Hill At Cb, I Think Raiders Will Play Woodson And Asomugha At Cb With Hill As Nickel Back. Raiders Will Pick Barret Ruud Ilb In First Round, Elton Brown A Garde In Second, Andrew Walter A Qb In Third And Also A Cb In Third Probably Fast Antonio Perkins From Oklahoma.

Our Defense 4-3
Dt-washington,saap (kelly,smith)
De-brayton,hamilton (burgess,irons,biamila)
Ilb-ruud,johnson
Olb-clark, A Free Agentas Mark Fields (smith , Williams)
Ss-gibson (anderson)
Fs-schweigert(cooper)
Cb-woodson,asomugha(hill,walker,perkins)

Ok I am done preaching about C-Wood, don't get me wrong when he could play his style he was one of the best around. Nice back and forth on this issue.
