We hear that the Texans, if no trading partner can be found, are likely to wait until after the draft to release ILB Jamie Sharper. The team appears poised to start Morlon Greenwood and Kailee Wong at inside 'backer this season.

this may be why we have not made a move for a trade cause there is a chance we can get him for free. the sure would be GREAT

Yeah, but if the Texans are prepared to cut him then we can probably trade for him without giving up very much. I guess it depends on how much he is scheduled to make. If he has a large salary, then we would be better off picking him up after he is cut. But, if he is willing to renegotiate now, it seems like he could be had for a late pick.

I cant believe they are going to release J. Sharper. but i can say i would be sad about. J. Sharper in silver & black that would be tight.

This guy played beside Ray Lewis in Baltimnore. He would be a great compliment playing beside Danny Clark in the middle!

Sharper's current price tag is around $5 million. In 2002, he signed a 3 yr $18 million deal. Give a 6th round draft and we will have him at least one year. A 6th round for a great LB for one year is worth it. After being a Raider for a year - he'll never wanna leave. Renegotiate a long term deal.

Other wise if he goes FA, I'm afraid he will reunite with Lewis in Cinncinati or go to the Seaslugs.

Yea they probably won't release him until after June 1 to take the cap hit next year. Come on down Jamie that is the missing link we need. We will be loaded for bear if we pick him up and a backup FS.

We don't need sharper in the middle anymore as it looks more and more like we will be running the 4-3 primarily (we've been signing d-linemen this offseason and no lb's) but if we can get him cheap, then why not, he would just add depth to the team.
