Ricky manning jr a possibility for OAK?

i read that the panthers CB ricky manning jr may lose his starting job to new commer ken lucas and 2nd year CB chris gamble. would he be a good CB to start for us, i mean, if we could trade for him would it be worth it? im seeing our Defensive line really starting to shape up, what about our secondary. i think it needs serious help.

interesting...idk. Depends on whhat happens on the C-Wood front [ I think he will sign a long term deal July 15 with us...thats the first day he can sign with us long term. No other team is going to trade for him and pay him that kind of money..Al has a nice contract for him on the table and he will relaize no one but Al is going to spend that kind of $$ on him so he will sign long term with us ]. As for Phillup idk...could see a trade on draft day with him for some picks or he could help us trade up into the late first round. But as of right now Manning in silver and black is a 1 in a 100 shot.

I can understand Ken Lucas taking the starting gig (cuz he's a pimp), but if Ricky Manning Jr. loses the other spot to a second year cornerback with very little college experience at the position, not to mention Manning is only 5'8....why would you want him?

In my opinion, with the Panthers front four (did they lose somebody?), they can afford to take risks in their defensive backfield. He's more athletic and faster, but I'm not so sure Gamble can steal the starting job just yet from Ricky anyway.

Stick with what you got and hope Woodson signs long term.

Joker: Gamble played very well this year. I'm guessing that his height (6'1) is what eventually will win him the starting gig over Manning.

He did well for a rookie, I agree. But I think he's just a product of the system, which is why I wouldn't be so quick to turn my head away from Manning if I were Carolina.

In any event, Oakland doesn't need him.

Panthers have arguably the best DL in the NFL... Anyone they put at CB is gona rule, so i think there's a slight possibility they might move Gamble (bigger than Manning) to FS and fill a hole...

To have another UCLA product(Manning) on the field would just kill me, since I'm a USC fan. But I'll give up to our SS Anderson who went to UCLA . I remember in one game, that we loss he had 20 tackles in it, that shows me that he has a big heart in a losing effort.

It's not a rumour though, it's just a suggestion. For a thread to go in the Rumours section I think it be based on something heard or printed somewhere else (with a link if possible), not just an idea.

Exactly my thoughts. Why do we need to go after postions that are filled? We have enough spots on Defence that are lacking right now.
