Darren Howard

Sorry if this has already been posted...

The Raiders have apparently become the latest team trying to snag defensive end Darren Howard away from the Saints. Howard, whom New Orleans tagged as its franchise player this off-season, has been on the trading block with the Cowboys mentioned as the team most likely to acquire him. But Oakland has talked recently with New Orleans, dangling players such as its own franchise player CB Charles Woodson (who carries his own $10.5 cap number for 2005) or another disgruntled CB Phillip Buchanon (who would like to be traded). Word is the Saints would prefer to make a deal before the draft, in hopes of also adding another pick from this year's draft. If a Howard deal doesn't happen by the draft, the Saints plan on keeping him

I don't think Howard is going antwhere... Read this.
Saints | Howard Could Return - from www.KFFL.com
Thu, 24 Mar 2005 12:58:03 -0800

Jeff Duncan, of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, reports if the New Orleans Saints are unable to reach an agreement to deal DE Darren Howard before next month's NFL draft, then Howard is expected to suit up for the Saints in 2005. "I know this: After the draft, it's null and void. We're going to keep Darren," head coach Jim Haslett said. "If we can get equal value, whether it's a defensive player or a draft pick, then we'd probably go ahead and do it. If not, then we're going to keep Darren, and he'll be our starting right end. We're not going to just let him go." In addition, Haslett noted the team has yet to receive a formal offer from another club for Howard.

IMO, Woodson is not a cancer. IMO, he is the best corner in the NFL. The only problem I have with him is that right now he will not sign a long term deal and restructure to allow the Raiders to make more moves in Free agency, while the rest of the team is restructuring. That is my only beef with Woodson, other than that the guy is awesome, and would be your only chance at shutting down Randy Moss if we played you guys. Most People really dislike Buchanon, I think he will have a break out year wherever he plays this year. Last year, our defense was so horrible that that we were trying to cover receivers for like 10 seconds (OK, well it felt like that long). Buchanon I think will shine on a team with a pass rush, he gets a lot if pics, but also gambles a lot, which would pay off for him if he was on a team with a pass rush. I would be more concerned with Buchanons arrogant attitude than Woodsons. Hope that helps.

dont know if i would go as far as cancer, i believe most of the players like charles, us as fans are tired of him not living up to his own belief of himself and his 10 mil per year salary.

phillip buchanon, well he will make some big plays, interception maybe return one or two for a td in a season, but he will get burned twice as many for td's trying to do to much. but im think they both are good and i think a straight up trade would be good and fair for both teams, they both just need a change of scenery!
