Could the Moss Deal Not Happen? CBS Sportsline
CBS Sportsline: Moss deal may not happen!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Considering the way Tice has been salvating over that #7, you could add in Chaz and take either RB M.Bennet or O.Smith in exchange, but Moss isn't going unless that #7 overall is part of the package. And it's not like Nap Harris has ever been a significant value in this trade especailly since knowing he's in ol' Al's doghouse. Quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --Could it be that the Moss deal doesn't materialize on March 2? Consider the following scenario, which certainly falls into the realm of the conceivable: --The Raiders may have been dickering to acquire Moss before they got Porter to sign, not knowing if they would come to terms before Porter could hit free agency. --When they succeeded in retaining Porter, they were able to assign cornerback Charles Woodson the non-exclusive franchise player tag. --Now they would not have to go through with any arrangement with the Vikings for Moss. --Then DiTrapano went public on a deal, not knowing it was predicated on another club matter. Would that amount to a deal-killer? Perhaps not. Give Al Davis a week to think about the prospect of having Moss on board and he's liable to start pondering what the possibilities of landing a great player mean. The New England Patriots may have built a dynasty off the no-star system but Davis firmly believes in superstars and collects them -- frequently just on spec. And so, to take it a step further, if the Raiders want to keep that first round pick, No. 7 overall, they would have an option now that they have the right to trade Woodson. They could start a new round of negotiations in which they offer up the cornerback (assuming he is willing to sign his franchise tender and submit to a trade to Minnesota) in place of the pick. Unlikely? With the Raiders, never say never. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- www.sportsline.com/nfl/te...AK/8237467 |

The NFL is changing, there have been alot more trades of quality players over the last few years than ever before. I'd love this:
Napolean Harris, 1st rounder (#7), 7th rounder FOR Randy Moss Phillip Buchanon, 5th rounder FOR Ontarrio Smith, 6th rounder Charles Woodson FOR Dat Ngyugen, 1st rounder (#11) Then sign Ken Lucas and our secondary is done. CBs: Ken Lucas and Nnamdi Asomugha with a rookie and Ray Buchanon (yup) backing them up FS: Have Stuart Schweigert start with Jarrod Cooper coming in occasionally (transfer him from SS to FS) SS: Derrick Gibson and Marques Anderson rotate and battle it out for the starting slot. For our LBs, Barrett Rudd and Danny Clark as ILB Sam Williams and Antonio Pierce as OLB Our D-line could be Washington, Sapp, Sands in the middle at NT Irons, Kelly, Hamilton, Swancutt, Brayton on the outside as DE's I'd be pleased with that as our defence with WRs: Randy Moss, Jerry Porter, Ronald Curry, Doug Gabriel, Carlos Francis, Johnnie Morant RBs: LaMont Jordan, J.P Redmond, Darren Sproles QBs: Kerry Collins, Marques Tuiasosopo and a vet for the #3 spot. Ts: Robert Gallery, Barry Sims Gs: Langston Walker, ....................... C: Jake Grove KR/PR: Darren Sproles with Doug Gabriel and Carlos Francis as the backups. K: Sebastian Janokowski P: Shane Lechler Thats a team fit for a playoff run.
