I'm not going to pretend I've seen alot of Rudi Johnson but he is about the same size as Emmitt and Ricky in regards to both size and weight according to espn.com and here is the scouting report on him which seems to fit into norvs plans...'tackle to tackle power runner, wear down defenses' Again, I don't know anything first hand, just going off of reports. This kind of surprised but maybe because of all those "Rudy" movie references. Didn't think of him as a power back.
Johnson is a classic power back. He has adequate initial burst. He has good size and better power. Shows adequate-to-good vision and patience. Does a nice job of finding the cutback lane. Runs with very good leverage and body lean. Johnson has above average hands and is very capable in the short-zone as a check-off receiver. However, he has room to improve in terms of his awareness versus the blitz. He lacks a great feel in the passing game and is never going to be a big-time weapon as a receiver. His biggest weakness as an NFL RB is his lack of speed. He does not show the ability to consistently turn the corner or to bounce runs to the outside. Johnson can be an adequate starter in the right scheme. Johnson is a tackle-to-tackle power runner that can wear a defense down and will give you decent production as a dump-off receiver, but he lacks the speed and elusiveness to play in a lot of NFL schemes.
