Peter King, seems to come up with pretty good Raider info, I know he was with the Raiders in Oakland on draft day this year, and he called Collins coming to town. He seems to be a little more in tune than the average sportswriter, or at least lucky at guessing. He doesn't bash us too bad either.

This is the likely scenario. B-Robb didn't work out in mini-camps this year. Looks as if his knee rehab isn't coming along. At this point in his career, the risky knee surgery wasn't a guarantee of success and retirement WAS an option or at the very least, being cut from the 2004 roster. Which is why they went into the draft wanting/needing to pick up a center. The interesting thing about picking up Center Jake Grove is that in case B-Robb CAN play, Grove can provide backup at the Guard spot; giving the Raiders a win-win situation.
At the very worst, Grove can start at Center, leaving Adam Treu to playing long snapper for Lechler and Janikowski. Treu did a fine job when B-Robb went down early in the 2001 season, but you REALLY want to keep your long snapper doing long snaps as much as possible. The timing and technique is very different to short snaps. The short snap can adversly effect the long snap in such a bad way. So having Grove start at Center is NOT a bad proposition. It allows the rest of the guys to play their strong suits.

Some people just perceive some writers or reporters as Haters and then others like messiahs that are the end all be all! Again, this isnt new about B.Robbins possibly being cut, its been around for weeks and thats why they drafted Grove and Treu's contract and his past play at the position may it a likely scenario! |

Its incredible to think the competition this pre-season at many spots, guys like James Adkisson, James Bethea, Pete Campion, Ike Charlton, Chris Cole, Ejiro Evero, Donny Green, Grant Irons, Carey Scott, John Stone, Joe WOng etc... arent going to have a shot... Even guys likes Keyon Nash, Cooper, Redmond, etc...have to show alot to be able to stick around! This off-season, the S&B did a great job in bringing in good talent. Last year at this time, Ronney Jenkins, Cecil Martin were on the roster and were looked upon as solid aquisitions...the caliber and bar has been set high this season! |

I predicted in a post a post a couple of weeks ago that Robbins would be cut. I don't think his knee has healed and his condition is continually getting worse. He has had 3-4 knee operations over the past few years.
It's too bad because when he was healthy, he was one of the best. |

what was his signing bonus for this contract? 3 years left including this year right? Have to remember we'll take his signing bonus for the next 4 years accelerated into next year. Although it looks like they planned on reworking his deal next year.
