Eddie George on the Market?

Here is the article from ESPN, any chance in hell that Eddie George could fall in the SB laps? If it means cutting Gannonn or whoever its worth it, hes a freakin horse!

Overated

I think he's overated and beat up, not much left in his tank, he's had a good carrer. Fargas is the future, he hasn't been given a chance but kept me on the edge of my seat everytrime he touched the ball last year.

He is done....his body is beat up....BUT i think Davis wants him and will grab him in a sec if released. So yes I think he will be in silver and black next year.

How many Raiders do you know that WERE NOT considered beat up and done when they got to Oakland? Theres no way in hell that George is worse than Tyrone Wheatley. I think that the theory of George getting hurt too often is false. Hes been in the NFL 9 yrs with 16 Games started every year, and hes only rushed for under 1,000 yds one year and that year he had 939 which is pretty close. George is a stud and hed be worth taking just in case the Donkeys or some other RB deprived team wants him. We're talking about someone with less than 1% body fat that is an absolute specimen, the SB is crazy if they dont take it.

i THINK espn said george rushed for over 1,000 yrds each of the past 2 seasons, but his average carries went down!!!!! isnt that a good sign for the raiders. if they pick up george, wheatley/hammy/or zeroue will probably be cut. i dont know if george is in the raiders plans, but we'll see

Name a RB the Raiders grabbed after he'd been inthe league 9 years that did well after that point? I can't htink of any. RB is unlike any other position, it takes the most beating by far. We need young legs. Fargas.

Garner had been in 7 yrs when we got him and he wasnt a complete dissappointment, the point is that we do have fargas, wheatley, amos, and hambrick so eddie wouldnt have to be an every down back, but could still carry a substantial load. I'm with you on Fargas though, he is the future i just hope Norv's system can adapt to a quick finesse runner that i think fargas will turn out to be. Everywhere norv has been hes had, stephen davis, ricky williams, emmit smith, i think he needs a name power runner like george to make that **** work.

just my opinion and i enjoy the conversation

but if eddie comes in.....who goes out? fargas is a safe bet to stay. but we cant have wheatley, hambrick, crocket, and zereoue in our backfield. i know hambrick might be for special teams. but if eddie is picked up by the silver and black, do we lose someone like wheatly? or what about crokcet, what good is he? goal-line rusher?????? come on, eddie can do that, wheat can do that!!!

Finess runner?

Fargas always gets labled as such becuase he's fast, the guy is over 6' 1" feet and listed at 220 lbs, that's not little and it's bigger then Emmit was. And he's faster than Emmit or those other guys.

I think if you bring in George he'll want the ball all the time and that will piss off Fargas and Wheat. Wheat is good, but he needs the ball more than 5 times to get warmed up. You pound him up the middle 10-12 times and run Fargas outside and off tackle 10-12 times and you got a great running game.

I hope you're right otherwise its all up to Kerry AlchoCollins. Our awesome TEs and OL can only get us so far. At some point we have to have some skill players that arent old as hell. I just hope Porter can stay healthy, Gabriel starts showing something outside of spring training, and one of the speedy rooks steps up. Otherwise we can go ahead and count on drafting Cadillac Williams with an early pick next year

I hear you. But I think Al has done an awesome job, there is excitement in the air...or should I say the wind...someone unexpected will step up this year, I feel it.

George is definetly on the downside of his career but used properly could be very effective. He is going to have a hell of a line blocking for him so his job would be somewhat easy.

but to use him properly would also include not paying him a tremendous amount (he was expected to make a base salary of 4 million in tennessee). so can the raiders lure him to oakland and sign him costly? i dont know

Here's my take

George is done. Too beat up and too many surgeries the past few years. Wheatly is fresher than George and may still have a year or two left. But this might be the year that Wheatly breaks down. Have you noticed how both Bonds and Giambi have broken down this year? The BALCO juice was good stuff and once these guys get off of it bad things seem to be happening. Cooper might be young enough to survive but I would bet that we may have seen the end of Robbins as well.

I agree bringing in George would be huge for the Raiders,he has always put up very good numbers hardly ever misses a game and never really had a complete oline with the Titans
