Lamont
Lamont Jordan is the real deal, he's no joke. Could easily be a #1 back and help out a team immensely. It's a shame he's behind a hall of famer who isn't showing signs of slowing down. I would love to see him has a Raider but the Jets are smarter then to just let him go, he should be their future.

Didn't Troy Hambrick think he was The Man in Dallas behind another waning HOFer a few years back? And I do believe that there is a moral to that story...
Besides--the Jets hate the Raiders--why would they offload talent on a hated opponent? Better off watching Cleveland with Willie Green and Lee Suggs, or Jacksonville with Greg Jones and Fred Taylor, or Buffalo with McGahee and Henry... |

Yo X-factor,
I say Fargas, Wheat, Combs, Steeler boy will do fine and we have som UFA in camp as well. We be in good shape running. We could get the best RB out of NFLE Hicks runs great an has good hands as well. Let the wanabe's be ( Hambrink, Jordan, etc)

Jordan is a big fast collision back. He doesn't juke or jive, he plows. Keeping healthy is a big part of the issue with him his style seems to invite nagging injuries.
He is a big play RB, can play some FB as well but most players that level prefer to be the feature man and his personality matches that. Think about it- there's a great chance that next year's third round pick will really be the first pick ofround four from Oakland. Let the trainers evaluate him- if he's 100% let's go round 3 on him and add value what have we got to lose on it? We need guys to be like the Kaufman speed- where if the safety takes the wrong angle it's six and you have to keep somone in the box to the strong side. Jordan has speed and power and would fit in Norv's play pass system. Giving him reps in the I where he gain a full head of steam before contact would be great to view. More brutal backs to compliment Wheat's Thunder!

Lamont Jordan is a good back to have in the 4th quarter when you have the lead. He is one of those guys that will keep the chains moving when the defense is wore out. Could he be a 20-25 carry a game guy? I doubt it. I really think his role with the Jets right now serves him well, unfortunately he is playing behind Curtis Martin and with Martin's productivity declining, I can see him being upset and feeling like he could or should be the featured back. I think the Raiders are going to be just fine with Fargas, Wheatley and even Zereoue. With the offensive line improving like it has, I see no reason for the Raiders to be near or at the top of the rushing list.

I thought I would bring this thread back up because as we approach the 6/1 cuts and L Jordon being a possible cut this is the guy we should get it will make deciding who our starter is alot easier. I am in the middle of the replay of the Jets vs Raiders playoff game from 1/6/02 and seeing L Jordon reminded why I would like to see this guy in S & B. Forget about Zeroue and Hambrick, Lamont is the real deal and with him and wheatly and fargas we would have the compliment to our front line. Sure he will cost a little but if you cut hambrick and Zeroue that should even things out. Not sure how much that is but I am sure its close to what we could get him for.
