I like Wheat, but...
This is from profootballtalk.com
RAIDERS LOOKING FOR MORE RB HELP? Despite the recent addition of veteran Amos Zereoue and the presence of Tyrone Wheatley and Justin Fargas, we're hearing that the Oakland Raiders are hoping to beef up their running back corps. The leading candidates, we're told, are Travis Henry of the Bills and Rudi Johnson of the Bengals. Henry is quickly becoming expendable as 2003 first-rounder Willis McGahee gets closer to the field. Johnson, a restricted free agent, is poised to hit the open market in 2005. With rookie first-rounder Chris Perry now on the roster, the Bengals might be tempted to get value for Johnson now, in lieu of nothing later. If the Raiders add another back, our guess is that veteran Tyrone Wheatley might be the odd man out -- unless newcomer Zereoue fails to show that he'd able and willing to be a role player in the Oakland offense, which likely will be augmented with some special teams appearances, a task in which he initially made a name for himself with the Steelers. I like Wheat a lot. But if meant losing him to get Henry, I'm all for it. |

If we go with what we have...watch out...wheatley once he is conditioned to running and taking hits on alot of reps will shine for us. he's done it before and can do it again. he really came on for us last year when he was given the chance. he did a good job. i'd love to see him have a chance at another 1,000 yd season. i believe he can do it.

Garner had his place in the offense, a pass catching RB, couldn't find the hole to save his life and would run into the back of his linemen, then tear off a long one. Wheatley didn't get his carries because of pass, pass, pass and he would drop a few. I didn't hear a word from Wheatley when his role was diminished by the presence of Garner, no bitching, no whinning. Then when we finally had to run, because we didn't have a QB, who was there? Tyrone Wheatley.....I'd like nothing more than our much improved O Line to open some holes for the big man, wear'em down, change it up with Fargas and use Amos to catch a few on 3rd down. If Wheatley can handle the load, let him carry it.

Don't forget big Zach! 3rd and Goal from the 2 ... my dead ****ing grandma knows what we're going to do.
STOP IT!? You can't asshole! Wheatley is the 'starter' whether he 'starts' or not. As he goes we will go. All the Zeroues and Fargas' will be nice, but when push comes to shove, 47 does the shoving. No way anyone with any offensive sense gives up Wheatley. |

we have to give wheatley tons of respect. think about it for a second. with his diminishing role in the offense, coming off a 1000+ year rushing the ball, he got almost no touches the past two years, any other guy would complain til his face turns blue, but he just wanted to do what is best for the team, now it is his time to prove himself. granted he is not the fastest, but he can just flat out run fools over! and he has better vision than garner and i am looking forward to him getting plenty of touches this year as our feature back.

TYW last good season was in 2000. Fargas has one good leg. This guy from Pitt, i don't know. With these mini camps starting earlier each yr, any thing can happen. The RB position is far from set.
